Hellfest, held every year just outside of Paris, in Clisson, France, continues to up the ante every year with forever growing and impressive lineups! Taking place from June 27 to June 30, 2024, Hellfest will once again be four days long and over 200 bands appearing on six stages. For 2024, the headliners for each night will be Avenged Sevenfold, Machine Head, Metallica, and Foo Fighters. Awful weather is plaguing Wacken, Germany – the home of this week’s legendary Wacken Open Air Festival. The festival grounds and surrounding areas have had massive flooding and continued storms putting the event in doubt, and causing many fans to be unable to attend. Still, in spite of the dire weather and at times dangerous conditions according to a published report from the AP, the festival organizer Thomas Jensen has shared a message, hoping to put on the festival somehow. The festival has limited capacity, has done a lot to direct fest-goers to shelter, safety, food (and beer), and seem to be pulling out all the stops in an effort to carry one. We have several friends and colleagues at Wacken and hope for their safe return. WOA 2023 is headlined by Iron Maiden, Dropkick Murphys, Megadeth, Jinjer, Beartooth, and many more artists. Slam Dunk Festival 2022 approaches at less than two months away, taking place over June Bank Holiday Weekend, Slam Dunk Festival has revealed stage splits for its tremendous lineup. Headliners Neck Deep, Alexisonfire, Sum 41 and Dropkick Murphys and countless more bands. See the splits below.
St. Patrick’s Day weekend in Boston. We know this song and dance already, but let’s recap… green beer, parade, inevitable bar fights, Dropkick Murphys show. But this time, there’s a twist to this weekend. The week leading up to the show also marked the grand opening of Boston’s newest concert venue, Roadrunner! Now, truth be told, I had to Google what the hell Roadrunner even was because I had never heard of it before. But let me tell you something… this may be my new favorite venue in the city.
The Bronx just released their latest album Bronx VI via the Cooking Vinyl label (read our review here). Now they have teamed up with their comrade and tourmate Jordan Buckley (Every Time I Die) for the “High Five” 7-Inch. You can stream the single and watch a visualizer now. A new Limited edition merch collab featuring Buckley’s artwork from the single is available for purchase now. The Bronx are currently on the road with Dropkick Murphys & Rancid with future USA and United Kingdom dates with Every Time I Die, including the 2021 edition of ETID’s “TID The Season” Christmas Shows in their home town of Buffalo, New York! Coming up next week in Sacramento, California, the sold-out Aftershock Festival has announced their full weekend performance times and running order, Onsite Experiences, and Food & Beverage Offerings for the four day long music fest. Metallica will headline two nights with The Original Misfits, Cypress Hill, Rancid, Social Distortion, The Offspring, Anthrax, Machine Gun Kelly, Rise Against, Volbeat, Testament, Gojira, Mastodon, Seether, Mudvayne, Dropkick Murphys, Pennywise, Mammoth WVH, and tons more bands. It takes place October 7-10 Festival at Discovery Park!
Riot Fest has made the final weekend additions to the 2021 event, kicking off September 19th, 2021, which will be the fest’s first-ever Thursday Preview Party. Patti Smith and Her Band and Alkaline Trio will join Thursday night, with additional sets from Joyce Manor (performing their self-titled 2011 debut), WDRL, and Kristeen Young. As for Sunday, The Flaming Lips will return to Riot Fest on Sunday, bringing the fest-favorites back to Douglass Park on September 19 to replace Pixies. Sunday attendees will also get into the Thursday Preview Party for free, with a host of freshly-announced perks included. Tickets are on sale now at the link below.
Terrible news as word has spread on soicial media that Brendan “Stu” Maguire, the former bassist and guitarist for Bane and Reach The Sky, has died. He died after a difficult few years battling pancreatic cancer. News spread of his death on social media after bands started paying tribute to Stu, a nickname he picked up over the years. In addition to his long stint in Bane (2005-2012), he also worked with Dropkick Murphys and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones as well as being a beloved person in the scene. Many fundraisers have been held, including hate5six streaming Ban’es final show ever as a charty drive, and the upcoming event on July 2nd, “We’re With Stu” at Boston’s House of Blues headlined by Bouncing Souls, Sick of It all, H20, and more.
