CONCERT REVIEW: Better Lovers – seeyouspacecowboy – Foreign Hands – Greyhaven Live at El Corazon
Greg Puciato, somewhere in the middle of the madness, stated that, “Out of the 20 or so shows I’ve played here (Seattle), this is my favorite one.”
And what a night it was.
ALBUM REVIEW: Knocked Loose – You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To
Kentucky Hardcore stalwarts Knocked Loose continue to march forward in their vision of beatdown in the form of their third full-length, You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To (Pure Noise). Twenty-seven minutes of cathartic aggression laced with panic riffs of nu-metal fame and climaxing at soul-crushing breakdowns is all the band needs to prove their rightful spot in the upper echelon of modern Hardcore. With three absolute banger singles put out before release of the album, the rest of the tracks need to stand out on their own as well, which they do.Continue reading

ALBUM REVIEW: The Ghost Inside – Searching For Solace
Twenty years into their existence, Metalcore prize fighters The Ghost Inside look, feel, and sound as good as they ever have. Searching For Solace (Epitaph Records) the sixth installment in the band’s catalog, is not only a de facto extension of the emotionally driven self-titled album; it’s purposeful, tight, and as good a case as any that TGI are (still) at the height of their career.Continue reading
ALBUM REVIEW: Imminence – The Black
Arising from Trelleborg, Sweden, the ambitious quintet Imminence continues to reinvent Metalcore with their new album The Black. The group is known for breaking the genre’s boundaries with their use of violin and combining classical arrangements with breakdowns, blast beats and cataclysmic vocals. While Metal and Classical is one of the last combinations you would ever expect to hear, the band has always blurred the lines seamlessly between the styles. However, with this album, the Classical is more prominent than ever, while somehow making the Metal aspects hit an even deeper part of the soul for an almost spiritual experience. Continue reading
ALBUM REVIEW: Northlane – Mirror’s Edge
With time being the ever tricky and questionable beast, it is easy to still consider Aussie’s Northlane as a brand new band and not 15-year veterans with six prior studio releases under their belt… yet here we are. What is perhaps also overlooked is their nature of change across their sound with releases encompassing progressive tinged modern Metalcore to more electronic ambient sounds elsewhere; meaning, every new release may offer something different and comes with anticipation as a result.Continue reading
INTERVIEW: Marcus Bridge of Northlane Breaks Down Their New “Mirror’s Edge” EP
Ghost Cult Keefy welcomed back in Marcus Bridge of Australia’s Metalcore kings Northlane. Their new EP Mirror’s Edge is out on April 12th, 2024 and is a star-studded affair. We caught up on the last few years of life for the band, why the EP is like a reverse “greatest hits” release, working with Will Putney, having collabs with Winston McCall of Parkway Drive and Ian Kenny of Karnivool, bringing back Brendon Padjasek for some guest growls, and the future of the band, and his favorite Marvel Comics!

ALBUM REVIEW: ERRA – Cure
If it wasn’t for bands like ERRA, Metalcore would have lost relevance a long time ago, dragging by the coattails of As I Lay Dying and Parkway Drive nostalgia that millennials still eat up today. Fortunately, the Progressive Metalcore quintet has the drive and vision to keep the genre not only alive, but thriving. The group’s sixth album, Cure (UNFD), is a true testament to that vision.Continue reading
ALBUM REVIEW: Boundaries – Death Is Little More
With its namesake taken from poet Dante Alighieri’s Inferno, Connecticut’s own Boundaries have offered an undeniably bleak effort which is certainly relatable in current times. Inspired by the notion that dying is perhaps not a terrible alternative, it’s a thought that certainly feels cuttingly real in a day of continued strife and tribulations on an almost constant basis. An undeniably dark overall narrative and inspiration Death Is Little More (3DOT Recordings) encapsulates with utter gloom and savagery in aplomb.Continue reading
