ALBUM REVIEW: Puscifer – Existential Reckoning : Rewired

Puscifer will always be best known as one of the many creative outlets for Tool / A Perfect Circle vocalist Maynard James Keenan, and as an avenue for the most obscure depths of his musical creativity. But the band has always been a collaborative affair, with Keenan working alongside many different artists over the years, with their albums subsequently always providing an infusion of many different ideas and experiences. Existential Reckoning : Rewired (Puscifer Entertainment / Alchemy Recordings/ BMG) is the remix accompaniment to their 2020 album, which itself was a typically avant-garde electro-rock melting pot of futuristic and otherworldly sounds.

Black Sabbath, Slipknot, Metallica, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Dio, Ozzy, Judas Priest, Tool, and More Named to The 100 Greatest Heavy Metal Songs of All Time by Rolling Stone

Rolling Stone has announced its list of The 100 Greatest Heavy Metal Songs of All Time, and this list….a curious one. Selected by the staff of RS, formerly the world’s most important music magazine, in the 1960s and 70s, has a good list, no doubt. Only a few bands from this list made this century, and weirder still, a good portion of the list is really hard rock and not remotely metal. All the usual suspects Black Sabbath, Slipknot, Metallica, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Dio, Ozzy, Judas Priest, Danzig, Megadeth, that you would have expected are here. Many of your faves are not represented. There are at least a few Death Metal and Black Metal bands. Cool. Lamb of God, is not. Still, people love lists so get ready to be big-time mad!

ALBUM REVIEW: In Flames – Foregone

“My momma always said life was like a new In Flames album. You never know what you’re going to get”. Without a single original left member to their name and being unable to keep a steady line-up since 2008, it’s not entirely surprising to find In Flames has gone from the brink of global domination to struggling to keep themselves near the top of the pile.
