Long Island, New York continues to be a machine for pumping killer Hardcore bands out, but there has been debate on who runs the scene nowadays. Some may say this debate is over as Pain of Truth has dropped the self-titled LP, Pain of Truth (Daze Style), and it is a scorcher. Unrelenting beatdown bridging ferocious riffs with Michael Smith spitting out rage-filled lines, now with no guest spots, is the evidence brought to the table in this debate.

As the heat gets worse and the prospect of melting becomes increasingly likely, a bouncing up and down session in the pit to The Scratch is probably inadvisable, but there you go. The Dublin four-piece are absolutely fantastic, frontman Daniel “Lango” Lang using taped drumsticks to beat the hell out of his Cajón like some kind of busker’s bodhrán as the band cover Motörhead classic “Ace of Spades.” Continue reading
Another year, another summer heatwave. Climate change is definitely a thing, but at this point I’m not entirely sure the organisers of Bloodstock Open Air aren’t just getting out and pushing South Derbyshire a few thousand miles closer to the sun.
