(HED) P.E. releases a solidly decent album with Class of 2020 (Suburban Noize Records). The band, hailing from Southern California, truly embodies the eclectic skater vibe of the area. The album is a mix of rock, funk, and rap. Jared Gomes, Jeremiah Stratton, Kurt Blankenship, DJ Blackard, and Chad Benekos are a tight outfit, and Class of 2020 has no wasted riffage.

ALBUM REVIEW: Body Count – Carnivore
You gotta face the facts, you will never be as cool as Ice-T. Never. He came from the streets of Los Angeles to become an iconic figure of Hip-Hop, movies and television, and Metal music. For some people, it seems like there is no mountain they can’t climb, and Ice is one of those guys. Sure, he could chill and sit back on the Law and Order: SVU Special Victims Unit money, and all those royalties. In actuality, he has been working harder than ever on music the last decade-plus, specifically for his groundbreaking band Body Count. All the evidence you need is on their new album, Carnivore. (Century Media). Continue reading
Mr. Bungle Teases More Behind The Scenes Images from The Recording Studio
A few days after teasing a new recording, Mr. Bungle has shared more photos on social media (Instagram and Twitter). The band is apparently in the studio working on new recordings, likely with the lineup that just performed the Mr. Bungle reunion shows last month. Joining Mike Patton, Trevor Dunn and Trey Spruance for those shows were Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian and Suicidal Tendencies and Dead Cross drummer Dave Lombardo. In addition to performing all of The Raging Wrath Of The Easter Bunny demo, the band performed several “new” songs live that were just early unreleased Bungle hardcore songs, eight covers and ten originals overall during their shows. The band has not released any new music since their California album in 1999. Any new Mr. Bungle release would be a cause to celebrate so fingers crossed! Continue reading
Remembering Reed Mullin, Drummer for Corrosion of Conformity (1966-2020)
So far, 2020 has been a cruel mistress as the reaper has claimed several giants of the drumming world. One that hits us particularly hard is the sudden death of Wiliam “Reed” Mullin of Corrosion of Conformity, at the young age of 53. Reed was not only a stellar drummer and musician, but he was also almost universally loved by the Hardcore Punk, Thrash Metal, Doom and Stoner Rock community, which is both amazing and insane. It just goes to show the talent Reed had and the breadth of different styles he helped encompass with C.O.C. Equal to his impact on record and behind the drumkit and the microphone, Mullin impacted a ton of people in the scene with his kindness and sense of humor. Continue reading
