Metallica Paramore, and Boygenius swept the major Metal, Rock, and Alternative music awards at the 66th annual Grammy Awards. Taking place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles all of the Rock Music awards are given earlier in the day and only televised on YouTube and not the main broadcast. In no surprise, Metallica won the only Metal Grammy award – “Best Metal Performance” for the song “72 Seasons” beating out other contenders Disturbed, Slipknot, Ghost (for their Iron Maiden cover), and Spiritbox! Robert Trujillo accepted for Metallica commenting “This is like family. When you’re making an album like this you’re jamming and collaborating and the spirit of 72 Seasons is the youth and creating music together. Keep those instruments in your hands and let’s keep the youth making music and keeping the dream alive!” Continue reading

ALBUM REVIEW: Big Scenic Nowhere – The Waydown
Ranging from members of Fu Manchu to Mos Generator to Yawning Man in their lineup, prolific Stoner Rock overlords Big Scenic Nowhere have left an everlasting legacy through their works for the past years. Now they are back with their third studio release, namely The Waydown– released via Heavy Psych Sounds. Consisting of seven tracks, the album presents the purest form of desert-styled riffs while also fusing them with jazz fusion-inspired elements. It’s fairly off-kilter to combine Desert/Stoner Rock with Jazz Fusion elements, so this has been a unique, newfound take, but of course in the finest way possible.Continue reading
ALBUM REVIEW: Frank Carter and The Rattlesnakes – Dark Rainbow
If every action has an equal and opposite reaction (or some such other attempt to pretend I paid attention in Science class all those years ago), it is no surprise that Dark Rainbow (International Death Cult) thinks where Sticky bounded in head-first, that it shows vulnerability where its predecessor presented a larger-than-life gregarious face.
Fifth dance for Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Dark Rainbow sees Frank and partner-in-crime Dean Richardson continue their approach of creating a sound and style for each album that, while it has definable elements that ensures that despite any skin that is shed the remaining vipers are undeniably “Rattlesnakes”, sets each release apart from it’s siblings. ALBUM REVIEW: Tijuana Bibles – Free Milk
Tijuana Bibles play an explosive style of rowdy post-punk flavored rock. The Glasgow-based band takes you back to a time when punk sprang from the seedy intersections of rock n’ roll in the early seventies. These guys are forward-thinking and time and dedication went into Free Milk (Button Up Records). It is thought out from a production and songwriting standpoint without feeling like the danger was edited out in the mix. Continue reading

ALBUM REVIEW: Sophie Lloyd – Imposter Syndrome
YouTuber. If there was ever a word with the ability to separate people into two distinct age groups in less than a second, then this is the one. It’s a term that didn’t even exist twenty years ago, yet for some, it’s just another word used without a second thought. But for others, it’s the grating sound of hyperactive internet personalities desperately trying to keep the attention of their trend-obsessed subscribers by constantly shouting, screaming, waving their arms about and overreacting wildly to literally everything.
