Press on, intrepid reader, to find out our top albums of 2022, as voted for by the cast, crew and hangers-on of the good ship Ghost Cult. Over 275 albums were nominated (including one stray and errant vote for Stryper… we’ve had words), some people lauded albums as the greatest of all time that no one else noticed, other albums picked up a steady stream of votes across the board without tickling the top of anyone’s charts, but through it all, we’ve been able to compile our team list of the best 75 albums of the year. Download Festival 2023, celebrating 20 years as a festival, is now the festest selling its 20 year history. The early pre-sale tickets are sold-out, but additional tickets will be available next week. The four-day festival (first time ever) is headlined by Metallica, performing two unique headline sets over the weekend with no songs repeated, and will be joined by fellow headliners Slipknot, and Bring Me The Horizon. Over 60 bands announced including Evanescence, Parkway Drive, Disturbed, Pendulum, Architects, Ghost, The Distillers, Placebo, Alexisonfire, Asking Alexandria, Motionless In White, I Prevail, The Blackout (reunion), Fever 333, Stray From The Path, Lorna Shore, Nova Twins, Within Temptation, many and more. General tickets onsale at 10am on

CONCERT REVIEW: At The Gates – Municipal Waste – Enforced Live at Irving Plaza

Recently renovated classic venue Irving Plaza in New York City is the scene for the finale of the US leg of At The Gates most popular album, Slaughter of the Soul. Enforced opened the night. They’re an interesting group to me. They sound like a mix of Death Metal/Thrash with a some hardcore-tinged vocals. Whatever they’re going for, it’s working for them. I dig it.

The artwork that emblazons Municipal Waste’s Electrified Brain (Nuclear Blast) sets the scene as strongly as anything else could have: a Flying-V guitar violently piercing the left cheek of a skeletal head that’s also being shocked. Pure Filth Festival, an all-day metal event, is set to take place at Sharkey’s Event Center, Saturday, June 18th, 2022 at in Liverpool, New York, taking place this weekend! Tattoo The Earth is set to make its return as a one-day fest this summer, according to an announcement from MassConcerts founder Scott Alderman! Featuring Anthrax, Black Label Society, Hatebreed, At The Gates, Municipal Waste, Enforced and many more to be announced, Tattoo The Earth will take place at The Palladium Outdoors in Worcester, Massachusetts on Saturday, August 27. Tattoo The Earth will feature two stages of live music, a tattoo village hosted by Zaza Ink — one of the leading tattoo shops in Massachusetts — and a festival village, which will include piercing, body painting, art events, contests, and more. Food trucks and a Bacon & Bourbon tent will also be on site. Pre-sale tickets go on sale tomorrow at the link below.
