ALBUM REVIEW: Obituary – Dying of Everything


 

I believe Nergal of Behemoth fame had a recent interview lamenting how modern metal acts run the risk of overproducing their albums and not coming across as organic. (Editor’s note: this is not new for him to say.)  And the metal fanbase fought amongst itself online as it usually does, but I think the man may have a point. Lots of Death Metal records have come across my desk recently that aren’t as grimy as they should be. One act without said issue is old reliable Obituary with Dying of Everything (Relapse Records).

Obituary Shares a New Single and Video for “My Will To Live”


Obituary will release their new album, Dying of Everything, due out 13th January via Relapse Records. They have also unveiled the second single / video from the record, the title track! Amon Amarth Shares a New Lyric Video for “Oden Owns You All” – Final Tour Dates of 2022 Upcoming


 

Amon Amarth has shared a new single and video -“Oden Owns You All” One!”  The track comes from their 2022 album, The Great Heathen Army, out now via Metal Blade Records. Read our review here. The band is wrapping up their 2022 North American Tour with Obituary, Carcass, and their labelmates Cattle Decapitation. CONCERT REVIEW: Amon Amarth – Carcass – Obituary – Cattle Decapitation Live at the Andrew J. Brady Music Center


 

The Great Heathen Army Tour marched through Cincinnati and Amon Amarth set the town ablaze.

Metal masters Amon Amarth have been chasing the peasants away for thirty years. They are presently on tour in support of The Great Heathen Army (Metal Blade) record that came out earlier this year, and they brought along Cattle Decapitation, Obituary, and Carcass for the ride.

Fleetwood Mac Legend Christine McVie Has Died


 

Christine McVie, the longtime vocalist and keyboardist of Fleetwood Mac, has died at the age of 79. Her family and the band broke the news on social media, which you can see in the posts below. Starting her career in the 1960s in the UK with the band Chicken Shack, McVie released her solo debut, Christine Perfect, in 1970. At the time, she was married to Fleetwood Mac bassist John McVie, and later joined the band formally for 1971’s Future Games. After the band mergd with Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham they had chart-topping million selling albums with 1975 self-titled album, 1977’s Rumours, and 1979’s Tusk. Those albums featured several notable songs written and sung by Christine McVie, including “Over My Head,” “Warm Ways, “Say You Love Me,” “Don’t Stop,” “Songbird,” and “Brown Eyes.” Amid the band’s prolific period, the McVies divorced in 1976. McVie stayed in the band until leaving in the late 1990s.  McVie was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. She also won the 1980 Grammy Award for Album of the Year for Rumours. Christne will be remembered for her beautiful voice, classy compositions, and deft talent as a performer on piano. RIP.

Maryland Deathfest to Return in 2024

In a statement posted on social media, Maryland Deathfest has announced they will return! After a hiatus for 2023 the fest will return from May 23rd to May 26th, 2024. In a message to fans the co-founders of MDF discussed the hiatus and the the return as well as new dates for 2024. MDF 2024 will be their 20th fest in Baltimore. They did announce that aftert the upcoming London Desertfest, they are discontinuing all other festivals they have put on, Netherlands Deathfest, California Deathfest, and more will be no more. MDF has operated for almost 20 years, put on 19 fests, and expanded to a global footprint, all while giving a greater voice to Death Metal, Avant-Garde Metal, Stoner Doom, and more genres, perhaps as much or more than any fest in the world.  Continue reading
