Milwaukee Metal Fest has announced the dates May 17th to 19th for its 2024 edition, with a pre-party May 16th. Now run by Jamie Jasta (Hatebreed, Kingdom of Sorrow) and Sound Talent Group‘s Tim Borror, the event this year featured Lamb Of God, Anthrax, Suicidal Tendencies, Biohazard, Machinehead. Possessed Books Two West Coast Shows with Suicidal Tendencies


 

Death Metal genre founders Possessed has booked two special shows in California for this October celebrating their 40th anniversary. Direct support will come from Suicidal Tendencies, continuing to play their debut album in full and other hits, also in support of their 40 anniversary. The band will play near their hometown of San Francisco on October 19th at the UC Berkeley Theater, and October 28th at Garden Grove in Anaheim, near Los Angeles. ALBUM REVIEW: Defleshed – Grind Over Matter


 

Sweden’s Defleshed have returned to the land of the living after a nearly seventeen-year hiatus. The band broke up shortly after their last album, Reclaim the Beat, in 2005. The original core lineup runited just last year with the intention of recording just a few new tunes to be included in a vinyl box set. The group was more than satisfied with their efforts and decided to press forward and recorded an entire new album and Grind Over Matter (Metal Blade) was born.

ALBUM REVIEW: Blind Illusion – Wrath Of The Gods


 

Part of San Francisco’s famous Bay Area thrash scene, Blind Illusion may have only produced one full-length studio album during their initial eleven-year existence but that record, The Sane Asylum (Combat Records) still remains an undisputed classic of its time. Not only famous for adding more technicality, diversity, and flavour to a scene that ran predominantly on speed and aggression, Blind Illusion also ended up being responsible for the creation of alternative funk metal act Primus, the band at the time featuring former Possessed guitarist Larry LaLonde and batshit bass wizard Les Claypool.

Mr. Bungle Are Working on Covers for their Reunion Shows


Mr. Bungle is gearing up for their reunion shows in February in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York City. The band will perform their 1986 demo, The Raging Wrath Of The Easter Bunny in its entirety. It will mark the first time Mr. Bungle has performed in close to 20 years and the first time these songs have been played live in over 30 years. The band comprised of original Mr. Bungle members Trevor Dunn, Mike Patton, and Trey Spruance will be joined by Scott Ian (Anthrax, S.O.D.) and Dave Lombardo (Dead Cross, Slayer, Suicidal Tendencies) for the dates. Opening acts for the six shows will include Cattle Decapitation, Possessed, Hirax, the Melvins, Ho99o9, C*nts, and Spotlights,.The band posted to social media that they are working on cover songs for the show, and hopefully some other Mr. Bungle tracks will be played, since their final album, California, turned twenty years old in 2019.
