Foo Fighters Announce First Wave of Special Guests for The Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert in Los Angeles
The Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concerts will benefit charities in both the UK and the US and was chosen by the Hawkins family. Beneficiaries and further details will be announced shortly. Performing alongside The Foo Fighters, the first guest artists for Los Angeles announced are Chris Chaney, Stewart Copeland, Miley Cyrus, Omar Hakim, Joshua Homme, Joan Jett, Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, Brian May, Mark Ronson, Alanis Morissette, Gene Simmons, Nikki Sixx, Chad Smith, Luke Spiller, Roger Taylor, Rufus Taylor, Jon Theodore, Wolfgang Van Halen, Brad Wilk, Pat Wilson, and a special appearance by Chevy Metal. More artists and guests will be announced. The Los Angeles concert takes place on Tuesday, Sept 27th, 2022 at The Kia Forum. Legendary Music Photographer Mick Rock Has Died
Mick Rock a.k.a. ’The Man Who Shot The 70s’ who created some of the most iconic shots of bands in music history, has died. He was 73. The news was broken by his family on social media. No cause of the death has been announced. In addition to a stint as David Bowie’s personal photographer, the native of Great Britain show iconic rock music acts such as Queen, T. Rex, Syd Barrett, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop and The Stooges, The Sex Pistols, The Ramones, Joan Jett, Talking Heads, Roxy Music, Thin Lizzy, Geordie, Mötley Crüe, and Blondie. Def Leppard To Release “The Early Years 79-81” Boxed Set
In what is shaping up to be a huge year for 2019 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Def Leppard, they are releasing a new boxed set. Def Leppard The Early Years 79-81 will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the classic On Through The Night album, with tons of remastered vinyl, CDs, a gang of unreleased material from their early years, live concerts, and hopefully shine a spotlight on guitarist Steve Clark who was one of the driving forces of the early days of the band. The set features more highlights like the never before released Nick Tauber produced version of ‘Rock Brigade’ among others. Releasing on March 20th The Early Years 79-81’Boxset, the definitive collection of the band’s early music coming from UMC/Virgin. The band’s first two albums, On Through The Night (1980) and High ‘N’ Dry (1981), and has been prepared in conjunction with singer Joe Elliott who has acted as executive producer on the set. The mastering has been done by the band’s long-serving sound engineer Ronan McHugh. This deluxe set comes with 5-CDs consisting of the original album remastered, B-sides, rarities and re-mix versions, Radio One sessions, Live from Reading and the first-ever appearance of an unreleased and newly mixed show from Oxford in 1980. These remasters have been highly anticipated, and much requested, by Def Leppard fans globally. Def Leppard will co-headline with Motley Crue on the stadium tour in North America 2020, with Poison and Joan Jett And The Blackhearts this summer. Listen to ‘Rock Brigade’ right now! Watch Bikini Kill and Joan Jett Perform “Rebel Girl” in Brooklyn
Last night Bikini Kill played at the historic Kings Theatre in Brooklyn as part of their comeback reunion tour. During their set, they were joined by Rock legend Joan Jett for a rendition of ‘Rebel Girl’, a song Jett played on! Jett and Bikini Kill’s Kathleen Hanna have a long association as bandmates, labelmates, and influences on each other, according to last year’s Joan Jett documentary Bad Reputation. Punk Documentary Series From Iggy Pop and John Varvatos Debuts on Epix
Punk, a new documentary series made its debut on the EPIX channel tonight. Produced by Iggy Pop and designer and music mogul John Varvatos, Punk is a four-part series that explores the birth of Punk Rock. A huge assemblage of stars has come together including Pop, Varvatos, John Lydon (Sex Pistols, Public Image Ltd), Henry Rollins (Black Flag), Marky Ramone (Ramones), Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters/Nirvana), Duff McKagan (Guns n’ Roses), Donita Sparks (L7),director Penelope Spheeris (The Decline of Western Civilization), Joan Jett, Danny Fields, Legs McNeil, Wayne County, Keith Morris (Black Flag/Circle Jerks/OFF), Debbie Harry and Chris Stein (Blondie), Wayne County, Flea and many more.
