Legendary Brooklyn Metal Club Saint Vitus Bar to Return in a New Location This Fall

Over two years since being shut down in the middle of a show by the New York City Department of Buildings, Saint Vitus Bar will return to Brooklyn this fall in a new location. The new venue will be at 428 Troutman Street in Bushwick, the site of the old Brooklyn Made club, which closed in 2025. After a lot of teasing on social media leading up to the reveal, with a series of videos where Günther, the mascot/mannequin, left the bar at the old Greenpoint location on Manhattan Avenue and Clay Street, leaves his former home and sojourns to his new one. You can watch the last video in the series, which has him arriving at 428 Troutman and going inside, below.

Dubbed the “home of metal” in NYC, if not the USA, by Ghost Cult in our post-mortem about the closure, we are stoked to see it return!

CONCERT REVIEW: Blackbraid – Winterfylleth – Noctem Live at Birmingham Asylum

An early start at The Asylum this evening means opening act, Noctem only walk onstage to a half-full venue. Word of their arrival must get out fairly quickly though, as the room swells significantly before the scary Spaniards reach the end of their set. Smashing into “The Black Consecration,” the title track from their 2019 album, frontman Beleth (Xavier Tolosa) shrieks and roars for all his worth, enveloped by smoke and moody lighting as the band continue the blastbeats and tremolo riffs with “The Submission Discipline,” “The Pale Moon Rite,” “We Are Omega” and “Let That Is Dead Sleep Forever” before closing with a rip-roaring “A Cruce Salus.” Continue reading →


Blackbraid Shares a Single and Video for “Celestial Bloodlust” – New EP Out This Week

Indigenous solo black metal project, Blackbraid is surprising fans with the brand new EP, Nocturnal Womb, out independently on March 6. The new single, “Celestial Bloodlust,” has also just arrived, along with a performance video, captured by Moshmallows during a recent performance at Kollektivet Livet Bar & Scen in Stockholm (SE).
