Sometimes all that’s needed on a rough day is some crusty Death Metal. Luck would have it that Crawl has dropped their sophomore full-length, Altar of Disgust (Transcending Obscurity Records), and it is a journey, to say the least. Ten songs (eleven counting an intro) at just over thirty minutes is the perfect portion size for such an aggressive and abrasive collection of songs. These Swedish death metallers have one goal in mind: to crush you under the weight of their riffs and breakdowns.
Okay, I openly confess, I may have dropped the ball. But what do you mean, you ask? Well, there’s a long laundry list of brain farts on my part so I should clarify. Apologies to a couple of ex-girlfriends beforehand as said list includes my lack of communication. That out of the way, I’m shocked that it took this long for Replicant to come to my attention. The collective is armed with an innate ability to devise structured songs that possess personality and conjure truly frightening thoughts.
