A plethora of bands will descend on Chicago for the return of Riot Fest! Nine Inch Nails, Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, DEVO, NOFX, Dinosaur Jr., Motion City Soundtrack, Smashing Pumpkins, Run the Jewels, Pixies, Circle Jerks, Coheed & Cambria, K.Flay, Meg Myers, Les Savy Fav, and many others to perform. My Chemical Romance has been announced as the first headliner for 2022 and tickets are on sale for both this year and next years’ fests at the link below. Riot Fest takes place every year at Douglass Park this fall (September 17–19) with a pair of announcements both for this year, and next year. In an unprecedented move, festival organizers are revealing the lineup for 2021, along with tickets for 2022. Three-day passes for both years are now on sale; 2021 single-day passes will go on sale next week, when more bands for 2021 will be announced.

Pixies Share New Video for “Catfish Kate”, New Album Incoming
Pixies will release their new studio album, Beneath The Eyrie, due out September 13 (BMG). The band has been updating fans all summer with podcasts, social media updates and other content on their progress. Check out their new animated video ‘Catfish Kate’. The clip was created by the UK/European-based Krank! Collective who also produced the animated video for Pixies’ ‘Tenement Song’ from 2016’s Head Carrier. Krank!’s Neirin Best and Lianne Pierce created the “Catfish Kate” video using a variety of handmade and digital animation techniques, including old school light box, painted animation, rotoscoping and digital compositing. The Cure Books Pixies, Deftones, Mogwai, Throwing Muses, Chelsea Wolfe and More For Pasadena Daydream Festival
As we previously reported, Rock and Roll Hall of Famers The Cure are celebrating forty years as a band in 2019. In addition to tours and other festivities, the band has created their own one-day festival. Now we can reveal that The Cure’s “Pasadena Daydream” one-day festival will take place on August 31st and features a hand-picked selection of bands curated by Robert Smith personally. In addition to The Cure headlining, Pixies, Deftones, Mogwai, Throwing Muses, Chelsea Wolfe, The Twilight Sad, The Joy Formidable, and Emma Ruth Rundle will all appear. Tickets to the Pasadena Daydream go on sale May 17th at 12:00 p.m. PST via the festival’s website at the link below. They’re also releasing a new album, an appearance at the famed Sydney Opera house where they will perform Disintegration in full, two new films about the band, and also scheduled to headline Austin City Limits in October. Further US tour dates are expected in 2020.

The latest in the long line of Alternative Rockers are Mantra, a British trio who formed three years ago. Pixies Enter The Studio To Record New Album, Launching a Podcast Series
Legendary Alternative Rock darlings the Pixies have entered the studio with famed producer Tom Dalgety (Ghost, Opeth, Therapy?, Royal Blood) to record their next album, due out in September 2019. The eighth Pixies album and the second with their new lineup, the as yet untitled album was written over 2018 and recorded in December at Dreamland Recordings near Woodstock, NY. In an unprecedented move, the band is going to share their creative process and album behind the scenes in a series of podcasts, coming this summer. Pixies teamed up with Signal Co. No1, the New York-based podcast company that focuses on music culture. Starting June 27, a 12-episode weekly audio podcast, “Past is Prologue, Pixies” will debut with a new installment each week leading up to the album’s release. Hosted and narrated by New York Times best-selling author Tony Fletcher, the series will be available globally on these podcast platforms: Apple, Spotify, Acast, Stitcher, Google, and more.
