Another year, another summer heatwave. Climate change is definitely a thing, but at this point I’m not entirely sure the organisers of Bloodstock Open Air aren’t just getting out and pushing South Derbyshire a few thousand miles closer to the sun.

Solar Sons Booked as Guest Headliners for Scottish Metal 2 The Masses Grand Final


Dundee, Scotland prog metallers, Solar Sons, have been announced as guest headliners at the Metal 2 The Masses: Scotland Grand Final. The band originally won M2TM Inverness in 2017, earning a spot at Bloodstock Open Air, and were invited back in 2022. They are currently playing live in support of their new album, Altitude, out now, via Argonauta Records. Read more below.

FESTIVAL REVIEW: Bloodstock Open Air Part 2 – Live at Catton Hall


 

SATURDAY:

After I visit the bust of Lemmy in the RAM Gallery, Brazilian death metallers Crypta are in full flow on the main stage, tearing through the likes of Lift the Blindfold” and “From the Ashes”, casually stripping away any vestiges of third-day fatigue. And if that wasn’t the perfect wake-up call, then there”s always Bay Area thrashers Forbidden who blast through the likes of “Forbidden Evil,” “Twisted Into Form,” and “Step By Step” aided by summer recruit Dan “Chewy” Mongrain of Voivod. A great show, although a time overrun means we are deprived of the classic “Chalice of Blood.” Continue reading
