GUHTS (presumably pronounced guts?), formed in 2019 and comprises of musicians from Witchkiss, Black Mountain Hunger, SleapingDreaming and Nefariant. And excitingly, Regeneration is being co-released by two excellent labels, Seeing Red Records (US) and New Heavy Sounds (UK).Continue reading

ALBUM REVIEW: Sophie Lloyd – Imposter Syndrome
YouTuber. If there was ever a word with the ability to separate people into two distinct age groups in less than a second, then this is the one. It’s a term that didn’t even exist twenty years ago, yet for some, it’s just another word used without a second thought. But for others, it’s the grating sound of hyperactive internet personalities desperately trying to keep the attention of their trend-obsessed subscribers by constantly shouting, screaming, waving their arms about and overreacting wildly to literally everything.

ALBUM REVIEW: Dreamwell – In My Saddest Dreams, I Am Beside You
With their debut album, Modern Grotesque, Dreamwell certainly hit the ground running, full of cathartic, screamo energy that most bands several years into their career wish they could muster. It was enough that the band even got picked up by Prosthetic Records, looking at Dreamwell to capture lightning in a bottle twice with their sophomore effort, In My Saddest Dreams, I Am Beside You.

Deftones and Ozzy Osbourne’s Music Were Featured in HBO’s Controversial Series “The Idol”
The debut season of “The Idol” on HBO has been controversial for its graphics sex, drugs, and violence toward women Pop music-based series following a pop star and her new manager, who may be a cult leader. The series stars Lilly Rose Depp and Abel “The Weekend” Tesfaye who is the co-creator, and producer of the series as well as music for the show. In episode four of the debut season, a pool party scene featured the Nu-Metal classic “My Own Summer” by Deftones, while a piano rendition of Ozzy Osbourne’s classic Heavy Metal song “Crazy Train” was heard played as a solo piano piece by Hip-Hop Producer Mike Dean (The Weekend, Travis Scott, Kid Cudi, Tupac), who is playing himself in the series. The Idol is also co-produced by Sam Levinson of Euphoria with Reza Fahim and also stars Suzanna Son, Troye Sivan, Moses Sumney, Jane Adams, Dan Levy, Jennie Ruby Jane, Eli Roth, Rachel Sennott, Hari Nef, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Ramsey, and Hank Azaria.
FESTIVAL REVIEW: Sonic Temple Art and Music Festival, Live at Crew Stadium Part 1
Sonic Temple Art And Music Festival returned to Columbus, Ohio for the first time after taking three gap years.
Let’s begin with a little context. The inaugural instance of Sonic Temple was in 2019. Leading up to the event, festival promoter Danny Wimmer Presents (DWP) had discontinued an arrangement with AEG Presents to jointly produce Rock On The Range, the festival in Columbus, Ohio that Sonic Temple replaced. So, Sonic Temple needed to be different enough from Rock On The Range to dispel any raised eyebrows about the move. DWP also broke off ties at about the same time with AEG for their jointly created Carolina Rebellion festival and started a new one in its place called Epicenter. While those moves might have been sound business decisions, it still turned out to be a tough year for DWP festivals.
FESTIVAL REVIEW: Sick New World Festival Live at Las Vegas Fairgrounds
Some people told me I was crazy when I decided I was going to go to the Sick New World Fest, a debut Metal and Rock Festival in Las Vegas. In the month of May. I hate to sound like a boomer and complain about the heat in Las Vegas, which is an actual desert, but the bottom line is I knew in advance it was going to be hot as hell, and it certainly lived up to that prediction. That being said, I was really excited to come to the festival enjoy a day with my metal community, meet new friends, and see some incredible bands; some I had never seen ever, and some I had not seen in a long time.
ALBUM REVIEW: Sleep Token – Take Me Back to Eden
I don’t want to speak too early or jinx anything, but this Heavy Metal idea has been in a resurgence as of late. Bear in mind that a lot of the old promotional tools have been inactive for years. MTV lost its ass and stopped using the first letter of its acronym long ago and whatever is left of commercial rock radio is perfectly content to spin the same Stone Temple Pilots singles until the sun or Clear Channel finally burn out. Yet here we are in the age of streaming and shortened attention spans with several young acts making headway. Continue reading
