London-based three-piece Urne announced themselves with the stylish Serpent & Spirit, one of the standout Metal debuts of 2021, and a gloriously dismal collection of songs that unashamedly paid homage to an influence of classic eighties Thrash Metal, mixed with an intriguing blend of traditional rock and melodic death metal.
ALBUM REVIEW: Mammoth WVH – Mammoth II
In October 2020 the world lost a true musical legend when iconic guitar icon Eddie Van Halen passed away, signalling the end of one of the all-time classic American Hard Rock bands. In the aftermath his son Wolfgang Van Halen, himself a touring bass player for his father’s band since the tender age of 15, released his first solo album as Mammoth WVH. The record was in many ways a heartfelt tribute to his father as highlighted on the songs ‘Distance’ and ‘Mr Ed,’ and had been in the works since Wolfgang had started recording in Eddie’s legendary 5150 studio way back in 2015.

Mutants (Sargent House) is album number three from Stephen Brodsky’s heavy, quirky and often colourful side-project Mutoid Man. And much like his work in Cave In, the music Brodsky creates with Mutoid Man encompasses a whole host of influences, to create a myriad of sounds.
ALBUM REVIEW: Mizmor – Prosaic
Prosaic (Profound Lore Records) is the latest release from the impressive solo Black Metal project, Mizmor. Hailing from the US Pacific Northwest and recorded in multi-instrumentalist A.L.N’s home studio in Portland Oregon, the record follows last year’s Wilts End EP, and Long-Players Cairn in 2019 and Yodh in 2016, which also received a live release following a rare performance recorded at the prestigious 2018 Roadburn Festival.
