ALBUM REVIEW: Undead – Putrefactio
Spanish foursome Undead unleash a skilful, satisfying slice of death metal with the sick, slick, and sprightly Putrefactio (Redefining Darkness Records). It’s far from rotten.

ALBUM REVIEW: Heads For The Dead – The Great Conjuration
Horror and death metal is just as much comfort food for me as peanut butter and jelly is for others. It just goes so well together, that it’s impossible not to do the brutal combination. Heads For The Dead have crept back out from their catacombs to deliver their blood and a venom-soaked third full-length album, The Great Conjuration (Transcending Obscurity).Continue reading
Deftones Chino Moreno Unsure The Band Will Meet Its Goal of a Summer 2020 Release
In a new interview with Zane Lowe of Apple Music, Deftones vocalist Chino Moreno chatted for a brief interview “At Home With” playlist. Chino talked about the forthcoming Deftones album, the 10th anniversary of Diamond Eyes, working with longtime producer Terry Date, how the band has stayed together so long and overcome hardships, his approach to vocals, making music every day, and the possibility of re-releasing White Pony. Specifically, Chino cast some doubt on the bands’ new album seeing a summer release without being able to tour behind it. He said the band are “figuring that out now”, in an interview transcribed by Blabbernmouth.net. Continue reading
ALBUM REVIEW: Gatecreeper – Deserted
The fresh-faced group, GatekrGatecreepereeper has been making waves in the scene for the last couple of years. Their undaunted aggression and sinister viciousness made a mark when they released their first full-length album, Sonoran Depravation (Relapse Records) in 2016. They have a thought-provoking take on the classic Death Metal sound which sets them apart from a lot of other young, hungry acts. Now, this budding band is back with their sophomore record, Deserted (Relapse Records) and their magnetic extremes have reached a new level of exceptional. Continue reading
Roadburn 2019 – A Fest of a Different Color
Roadburn, now in its 20th year, is a fest I had promised I would start going to many, many years ago but for one reason or another never did. This year I went and although it is like other music fests in some ways, I can say that it is equally unlike other fests in many other ways. Many of my personal experiences will not be akin to a standard festival goer due to the nature of what I do obviously but if you bear with me here I can explain some things that the average person should expect when and if they decide to go is on their list of priorities. If you already know the drill or aren’t interested in this part please feel free to scroll on through.Continue reading
