Another bumper 2000trees Festival announcement today (Thursday 7th March), the final one for the 2024 event, with the 3rd and final main stage headliner, as well as a host of some of the finest acts, artists and bands playing across all of the events six+ stages. The 3rd main stage headliner for 2024 will be British rock outfit Don Broco (their only live show of 2024), who have had radio A-list singles, sold out arenas and most recently, a UK number 1 album with ‘Amazing Things’ in 2021. This will be the Bedford 4-pieces first ever appearance at 2000trees, and one that will for sure live long in the memory. Also announced today includes 2000trees royalty and all round legend, punk rock troubadour Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls, in the mix for most exciting UK bands around (and also a fully-fledged 2000trees hero) Bob Vylan, one of the most talked about bands in the world right now Wargasm, the stunning Welsh indie band Los Campesinos! (who are playing their first outdoor festival since 2014 at 2000trees), and following on from their 2000trees debut last year, returning rock royalty in Empire State Bastard. After hearing horror stories about the queues I was pleasantly surprised to arrive at the hollow turn of Donington for Download Festival 2023, and was parked up within 10 minutes. Not to dismiss the stories is it close the rather excellent download festival app a tool which I would find invaluable during my visit constantly advising incoming travellers of reach to avoid owing to congestion.Continue reading

FESTIVAL REVIEW: Download Festival 2022 Part II


My Saturday at Download began over at the main stage where I caught the retro new wave of classic rock act Those Damn Crows, a band who have amassed a significant following in Wales thanks to appearances at the likes of Steelhouse Festival and other rock-oriented affairs. Possibly one of the smallest acts to perform on the main stage this year, the band spared no expense offering a fantastic wake-up call with some unremarkable if solid hard rock tunes. The day’s proceedings then continued firmly in the rocky territory with a southern, slightly heavier twang with Black Label Society, in their first festival appearance on UK soil since 2015, and with less of Zakk Wylde’s expectedly lengthy and tiresome soloing. Don’t get me wrong, Zakk was still doing his usual thing, but with a much-needed addition of percussion, making the moments of instrumental wankery much more palatable than usual.
