In their time away from the music scene, life has been busy for Taiwanese act Chthonic. Five years have passed since their last studio album Bú-Tik (Spinefarm), and family has played a large part, most notably with married couple, bassist Doris Yeh and vocalist Freddy Lim, having a baby last year. Having also taken up politics, Lim swapped his stage make-up and black leather for a nice clean suit and tie, his progressive New Power Party, formed in 2015, becoming elected into the Taiwanese Parliament in January this year.Continue reading
Nightwish To Record South American Tour Dates For Upcoming DVD Release
Nightwish has two massive shows coming up in Brazil and Argentina for their throng of South American fans. Those shows, one in São Paulo, Brazil (September 28 at Tom Brasil) and one in Buenos Aires, Argentina (September 30 at Estadio Cubierto Malvinas Argentinas) will be filmed for an upcoming DVD release from their label Nuclear Blast. Delain will be the direct support. Nightwish is on the road supporting their recent album Decades which released last March. The band recently headlined Bloodstock Open Air in the UK.Continue reading

Victoria Hungerford Talks Booking Bloodstock Open Air And More
The biggest underground metal festival in the world, Bloodstock Open Air kicks off today. Headlined by titans of metal like Judas Priest, Nightwish, and Gojira, the festival has grown over the years from a small cottage enterprise to a huge undertaking. One of the lynchpins of the operation is Vicky Hungerford, as one of the four directors of the festival. She is directly responsible for booking the bands on the fest and attracting world-class talent every year. Thus, she helps to shape rock and metal history in the process year in and year out. We chatted with Vicky by phone a few days ago to get her take on BOA 2018, the challenges of planning such a big festival, and much more.
Max Cavalera Discusses Working With Metal Allegiance In A New Video
Supergroup Metal Allegiance, featuring David Ellefson (Megadeth), Alex Skolnick (Testament), Mike Portnoy (The Winery Dogs, ex-Dream Theater) and Mark Menghi will release its sophomore album, “Volume II – Power Drunk Majesty”, on September 7 via Nuclear Blast Entertainment.
