Chris Reifert (Autopsy, Death) and Greg Wilkinson (also Autopsy, Deathgrave) combined bring sixty-one years of experience to the death-metal scene, the former since 1985 and the latter 1998. It’s only fitting that the two would not only come together to form a new band, but to also unleash an album that immediately sounds simultaneously old-school and deep-rooted.
It may have taken thirteen years to follow-up their sole release, but with a cast that includes Misery Index, Cattle Decapitation and Scour alumni, the trials of time can be forgiven with Cast The Stone, and new EP release Empyrean Atrophy (Agonia) shows that this band has a lot more worth than simply being a side dabbling for them. I hit an interesting (well, mildly) milestone today. Today I learned that it is indeed possible to get too much of a good thing. Violation Wound are strictly in the metallic punk business and With Man in Charge (Peaceville) is all about that life. Think of it as a slightly more polished version of the musical filth Philip H.
