Andreas “Vintersorg” Hedlund Steps Down As the Lead Vocalist of Borknagar, ICS Vortex Takes Over

In a surprising lineup change, Andreas “Vintersorg” Hedlund has stepped down as the frontman and lead vocalist of Borknagar. Bassist and occasional lead singer ICR Vortex will now take over the role of lead vocalist. The band is at work on their new album, their 11th, and the follow up to the acclaimed Winter Thrice album on Century Media. The new album will be mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studio. You can read statements from Hedlund and the band below.

Borknagar To Begin New Album, Announce New Drummer

Norwegian kvlt metal veterans Borknagar are in the studio working on their new album. The new release will be the follow up to the acclaimed 2016 album Winter Thrice, out now via Century Media. Once again the band is working with Jens Bogren (Opeth, Kreator, Amon Amarth) once again at Fascination Street Studio in March 2019 and is expected for a worldwide release via Century Media Records in fall of 2019. Bogran will produce, mix and master the album. The new album will also feature new drummer Bjørn Dugstad Rønnow who is replacing Baard Kolstad – Baard has announced he will be leaving the group in good friendship due to busy schedules, heavy touring and various other musical commitments. Maryland Deathfest has added a plethora of new bands to the 2019 festival. Borknagar, Unleashed, and Benediction will all play Exclusive USA shows at the fest and joining them are Voivod, Anaal Nathrakh, Churchburn, Revenge, Primitive Man, Spectral Voice, Neckbeard Deathcamp and many more. Vintersorg – Till Fjälls del II

They might not have reached the near-mainstream status of many of their peers, but Swede’s Vintersorg have proven to be a very strong and respectable force with their brand of melodic, folk tinged Black Metal.
