Over 275 albums were nominated (including one stray and errant vote for Stryper… we’ve had words), some people lauded albums as the greatest of all time that no one else noticed, other albums picked up a steady stream of votes across the board without tickling the top of anyone’s charts, but through it all, we’ve been able to compile our team list of the best 75 albums of the year. In Flames, Anthrax, Biohazard, Sepultura, Whitechapel, Nonpoint, Ugly Kid Joe, Trollfest, and Church Of The Cosmic Skull have all joined the fest! They will join headliners Megadeth, Killswitch Engage, and many more!
Arctangent Festival Adds Scalping, Famyne, Outlander, Sergeant Thunderhoof, Cryptic Shift, and Ogives Big Band
Arctangent Festival is closing in on a sellout for their comeback festival later this month. The fest has now added new acts such as Scalping, Famyne, Outlander, Sergeant Thunderhoof, Cryptic Shift, Ogives Big Band, to the weekend. The fest already features headliners Opeth, Cult of Luna, and TesseracT as headliners, and has now added the updated festival map and clashfinder for fans to make use of!
Zeal and Ardor Books a North American Tour with Sylvaine and Imperial Triumphant
Zeal & Ardor have booked a North America tour for this summer and fall as headliners. The tour kicks off September 11th in Brooklyn and runs through October 7th in Berkeley, California, and includes stops in Canada. The band will also appear at this year’s Aftershock Festival on October 8th. Direct support will come from Sylvaine and Imperial Triumphant. Tickets go on sale at 10 am local time on Thursday, June 30th at the links below.
Zeal and Ardor’s “Devil Is Fine” Track Heard in a “Mayans MC” Episode on FX
Black Metal/Blues/Gospel artist Zeal & Ardor’s track “Devil Is Fine” was heard in the cold open of the latest episode of Mayans MC, on FX/Hulu. The show, a spin-off of the popular Sons of Anarchy, is in its fourth season and like SOA, uses music to great effect each season. “Devil Is Fine” comes from the debut album of the same name originally released in 2016, and rereleased to wide acclaim in 2017 MVKA. Their self-titled album was released in February of this year.

Zeal & Ardor have shared a new video for their current single – “Golden Liar,” the fifth off their upcoming self-titled album. Pre-orders are live now at hte link below. The release is due out on February 11th, 2022, via MVKA. The 14-track album was recorded by Marc Obrist and frontman Manuel Gagneux at Hutch Sounds and mixed & mastered by Will Putney at Graphic Nature Audio.
