Okay, I openly confess,  I may have dropped the ball. But what do you mean, you ask? Well, there’s a long laundry list of brain farts on my part so I should clarify. Apologies to a couple of ex-girlfriends beforehand as said list includes my lack of communication. That out of the way, I’m shocked that it took this long for Replicant to come to my attention. This Garden State unit has been around for 10 years so you would think that my decades-long travels on the heavy music highway would have warranted a listen or two. But thankfully on Infinite Mortality (Transcending Obscurity Records) I’m correcting the oversight.Continue reading

UPDATED: The Dillinger Escape Plan Has Booked Two More Reunion Shows Celebrating 25 Years Of “Calculating Infinity”


UPDATE 3: The Dillinger Escape Plan has now added a third date with all of the bands from the first two shows on one bill! 

 

UPDATE 2: The Dillinger Escape Plan has now added a second date to their 2024 reunion. Direct support will come from The Callous Daoboys and Deadguy.

 

The Dillinger Escape Plan  will celebrate 25 years of their acclaimed 1999 debut album Calculating Infinity with a reunion show on June 21, 2024 in Brooklyn, NY at the legendary Brooklyn Paramount. The band will play the album in its entirety for the first time ever with co-founder and original vocalist Dimitri Minakakis. Backing Minakakis will be founding guitarist Ben Weinman, as well as bassist Liam Wilson and drummer Billy Rymer. Tickets are on sale Friday, December 15 at 10am ET and will be available at the link below. Car Bomb has shared a poster with them and Candy lsited as openers, but not confirmed by PR.

Hailing from Salt Lake City and formed by Cult Leader bassist Sam Richards, Rile are a band with fine credentials who have recently landed on the Church Road Records roster and have created a solid debut for the UK label, which unashamedly takes inspiration from Converge, Trap Them and the like.

EP REVIEW: The Callous Daoboys – God Smiles Upon The Callous Daoboys


 

Much like the Atlanta band’s name is a mocking twist on the Dallas Cowboys, their take on metalcore is a mocking twist on the genre. Normally this sort of thing is not my personal taste, and I write it off as MySpace metal, however these guys have perverted in such a manner that it appeals to me. They are aggressive yet highly skilled in the mathematics of their contorted riffing.
