In its 10th year this summer, the brilliant and award-winning Arctangent Festival has once again well and truly delivered for its loyal, amazing audience. Following on from last months HUGE band announcement, today the summer event can reveal its final collection of acts playing in 2024. Heading up this announcement are one of the worlds greatest heavy bands to ever do it, Baroness, who will be playing ARCTANGENT for the very first time. An unmissable set, and surely now one of the most anticipated of the whole weekend. Joining them include stunning Bristol outfit Scaler (formerly Scalping), the mysterious and exciting New York band Imperial Triumphant, the musical collective A-Sun Amissa which is led by musician Richard Knox, and the psychedelic goth duo Gloom Index. the new bands, the full lineup, and the day by bay schedule so far. Continue reading

FESTIVAL REVIEW: Damnation Festival and a Night of Salvation 2023 Live at Bowlers Exhibition Centre


 

This year’s Damnation Festival is the second since it has returned to its original home of Manchester after many years at the University of Leeds. Anaal Nathrakh Books a December Co-Headline Show, Hints at a Breakup

Enigmatic extreme metallers Anaal Nathrakh has booked a December co-headline show in London with Sigh. It will be the bands first show in almost three years. It was announced in a post to Instagram. Apparently, the show is to be played without co-founder Mick Kenney who now lives in California, and the postulates that the gig with either lead to more shows, or the band will disbands entirely. Backing up vocalist Dave Hunt, will be former live members of AN and members of Akercoke/Voices. Tickets are on sale now at the link below. The band released their last full-length Endarkenment in 2020.

Sigh – Heir To Despair


It’s easy to love Sigh. It’s also easy to find them really annoying. Starting off as a Japanese branch of Black Metal’s second wave, Sigh has since mutated in all sorts of bizarre and interesting ways, integrating everything from classical influences to jazz breakdowns to having a nude, blood-smeared woman shrieking out vocals over Venom covers. As one does. At best, it made them a glorious thing to hear. At worst, it just sounded like a formless din.Continue reading
