Last Friday (1/29/21) I got to check out the live stream from Housecore bands Scour and Shock Narcotic. Both of these groups are “supergroups” but I’m not going to get into that right now. I will say though that the list of bands that make up the background for each band are some of my favorites so I was kinda excited for this show.
Long-running death metal and grindcore leaders Misery Index have signed with Century Media. The band is are currently working hard on their seventh studio album, which is expected to be released in 2021 to coincide with the group’s 20th anniversary. As a special treat for all of their fans, who currently miss seeing Misery Index live, the band has teamed up with Revolver to present a brutal live set captured on March 6th, 2020 in Munich during “The Campaign for Musical Destruction” with Napalm Death, Eyehategod, Rotten Sound, and BAT. Crushing news for the summer festival season in Europe, as France’s legendary Hellfest, has been canceled due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The festival announced today it was unable to host the festival, which takes place in Clisson, France, outside of Paris. Hellfest 2021 is already announced for next summer. Before we proceed with this review of Weeping Choir (Relapse), the latest in a long series of attempts at deafness by Full of Hell, I’d like to make a statement: more saxophones in metal. Buried in the cacophony of notes that is the latter half of ‘Ygramul the Many’ is what I perceive to be sax fighting its way through the mix and I am all in for those wonderful sounds. It may have taken thirteen years to follow-up their sole release, but with a cast that includes Misery Index, Cattle Decapitation and Scour alumni, the trials of time can be forgiven with Cast The Stone, and new EP release Empyrean Atrophy (Agonia) shows that this band has a lot more worth than simply being a side dabbling for them.Continue reading
