Members of Black Metal Bands Thorns and Slagmaur Thought Missing Caught in a Hoax – Slagmaur To Release a New Album in 2026

Last month we reported that Norwegian outlet Fosen Folket shared the news that Black Metal scene band members Snorre Ruch of Thorns and his friend Rune Krieghr Røstad a.k.a. General Gribbsphiiser of Slagmaur were been declared missing. Røstad posted a photo of the two on Facebook earlier this week before heading out for a “boys’ hike and night under open skies” in the Varghiet forests. At the time, many weeks had passed with no contact and apparently they feared injured or dead. Now according to a post from Metal Injection, the entire thing was a publicity stunt, revealed by Slagmaur’s label, the well-respected Prophecy Productions, to promote their upcoming new album in 2026. This is not the first time this has happened from bands, but it is still pretty surprising for non-mainstream black metal bands to pull a stunt like this. Local police had undertaken search efforts and released photos and descriptions of both men, so we don’t know yet if there will be repurcussions.

ALBUM REVIEW: All Hell – Sunsetter
Released under Terminus Hate City, Asheville-based All Hell releases their fifth full length album entitled Sunsetter– fusing altogether first wave Black Metal references with many other references too such as Deathrock, Punk, and film score type of atmospheres. Best known for occult-horror storytelling and narratively transgressive sounds, this time they conceptualized an album with a vast range from ancient myth to modern day apocalyptic undertones. The core themes being explored on this album include exile, rebirth, cosmic vengeance, lineage, vices and virtues, as well as the ordeals of surviving as well as apocalyptic worlds– incorporating references like Lilith, the curse of Cain, and a bloodline that is damned.Continue reading

ALBUM REVIEW: Tombs – Feral Darkness
The new Tombs album, Feral Darkness (Redefining Darkness), is another chapter in the sonic tome chronicling Mike Hill‘s travels to throb of the abyss. To say this sounds like a Tombs album is a broad statement that neglects the stylistic shifting due in some part to the band’s revolving lineup. The first thing you might notice upon first listen is that there are fewer Black Metal moments. Instead, the album is driven by the kind of aggression that characterizes Death Metal. The vocal approach is not all guttural. Forceful declarations, not unlike what you might have heard on a Celtic Frost album. Continue reading
