When doing reviews here at Ghost Cult, we try to keep things subjective, rather than injecting how we feel about an artist. Sometimes, when an artist becomes entrenched in your identity to the point where your friends hear said artist, it makes them think of you. This goes past the point of subjectivity and becomes more personal.

ALBUM REVIEW: Din of Celestial Birds – The Night is for Dreamers
Vocals and vocalists. They can be the secret weapon that elevates a piece of music into a higher realm, that gives a band a key component to their identity, that once heard you couldn’t imagine them without. They can be a deal breaker too — the ear sore that spoils the whole experience. Sometimes they’re just bland as a wet paper bag. But a voice is a voice. They all say something. They all have a message to convey (even when the message is “sha la la la la”).

Jarboe’s “Sacrificial Cake” Remasterd Release Arrives on Vinyl
Earlier in 2022 prolific and essential avant-garde artist Jarboe re-issued her classic solo masterwork Sacrificial Cake, remastered and released via The Circle Music. After a slight delay, the norm these days, the gorgeous deluxe vinyl edition, a first for this album, has arrived. Released in a glorious gatefold with a tip on sleeve on double lavender discs, the color theme is an homage to the signature track “Lavender Girl” Limited to 500 copies, this vinyl should make the ultimate compliment to one of Jarboe’s lasting gifts to the music world.
