After three years of waiting and longing, finally there will be an in person Roadburn Festival again. While the 2021 online edition Roadburn Redux, was in itself, innovative and the best digital festival I’ve seen set up during the dark days of the pandemic, nothing beats being physically shaken by bass heavy music and hugging friends from all over the world you only see once a year.

FEATURE: Mike Scheidt of YOB – The Ghost Cult Interview
Ghost Cult caught up with Mike Scheidt of YOB recently, while the band was on their mini-headline tour. Mike talked about the return to touring, his approach to playing live, the longevity of the band, the new deluxe re-issue of their classic album Atma (Relapse Records) – what Mike is reading these days, and the progress of the next YOB album! CONCERT REVIEW: Wayfarer – Artificial Brain – Glorious Depravity: Live at Saint Vitus Bar
Locals Glorious Depravity featuring members of Woe, Mutilation Rites and Pyhrron started the night off, the last time we checked in with them was shortly before shit hit the fan with the pandemic and this was their first show back since and damn they have tightened up and worked out the kinks. Looking forward to what they have in store for us in the future.

In certain circles, some might say “so goes Matt Pike, so goes the entire metal scene.” As the co-founder of two of the most iconic bands of the last two generations of die-hard metal fans, Pike’s mighty riffs laid down with SLEEP and later with High on Fire has led him from the underground to mainstream love from critics and fans alike. With his debut book about to drop, and a solo album tentatively due in 2022, Pike is on a roll and a High on Fire show, playing their first concerts in a few years now, is a necessary ritual for fans.
