Faith No More Teases a Return To Activity

Faith No More stirred hearts and loins of their adoring fans yesterday when they changed most of the social media profiles with a new image of their iconic logo over a mountain top. No official word had has come down, but speculation has been rampant by fans that perhaps the band will return to activity. Live performances seem possible as the band left their most recent reunion on good terms, with the masterful Sol Invictus (Ipecac Recordings) album and sold out reunion tour dates for three years. FNM’s landmark second album The Real Thing, the first release featuring Mike Patton (Mr. Bungle, Dead Cross, Mondo Cane, Peeping Tom, Tomahawk) turned thirty years old in 2019, so perhaps the band will honor that milestone. Ghost Cult reported the news last year that several core members of the band had teamed up for a writing session, to see if they had material for a new release. Watch Infectious Grooves Cover Faith No More Live in Brazil

Infectious Grooves performed last night in Sao Paolo, Brazil as part of Sick Bastards Social Fest in Brazil. The band included frontman Mike Muir, Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo and ex-Faith No More guitarist Jim Martin, alongside Brooks Wackerman (Avenged Sevenfold) on drums and Dean Pleasants (Suicidal Tendencies) on second guitar. The event, which was curated by Muir, celebrated 34 years of the Brazilian radio station 89 A Rádio Rock. Also appearing with the band for “We Care A Lot” and a performance of the Suicidal Tendencies classic “Subliminal” was Trujillo’s son Ty. Gothic-tinged electronic band Death Valley High are releasing a new EP this week, Duel releases from MinusHEAD Records this Friday, August 23rd, 2019. The EP is have composed of inventive 1980s covers by inspired bands (think Faith No More, Eurythmics, Metallica, Bananarama) made in collaboration with music legends and underground tastemakers, while the other half is made of remixes of current DVH material. Mr. Bungle Forced To Add More Reunion Tour Dates By Overwhelming Demand

The initial surprises reunion tour dates booked by Mr. Bungle have grown now that the pre-sakes indicated overwhelming demand. They have added an additional night to each of their previously announced The Raging Wrath Of The Easter Bunny performances in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York. The dates, which feature the Eureka-born band performing their 1986 demo in its entirety, mark both the first time Mr. Bungle has performed in close to 20 years and the first time these songs have been played live in over 30 years. The band also recently marked the anniversary of their final studio album, California (Ipecac Recordings). You can read Ghost Cult’s retrospective here. Original Mr. Bungle members Trevor Dunn, Mike Patton, and Trey Spruance will be joined by Scott Ian (Anthrax, S.O.D.) and Dave Lombardo (Dead Cross, Slayer, Suicidal Tendencies) for what promises to be an unforgettable night. Faith No More’s “The Real Thing” Turns 30

Faith No More’s smash hit album The Real Thing (Slash/Reprise) turns thirsty years old today and it still holds up not only as the album that catapulted the weirdo art-punks cum alternative metal band into the mainstream, the majority of it still holds up as a classic. All of the bands’ earlier formative material on the We Care A lot EP and the Introduce Yourself album definitely had threads passed down to its cute, feisty little brother of an album, but in many ways, much of the creative energy and reckless abandon of future releases surely was foretold here. One Year Ago The Dillinger Escape Plan Played Their Final Show

It has been a year since the final notes of The Dillinger Escape Plan’s final live performance of their twenty-year career rang out at a sweaty, bloodstained, tears and beers soaked Terminal Five in New York City. While bands reunite all the time and no one should ever say “never”, this one retirement is pretty final. Ghost Cult staff was in attendance all three nights for the final dates of their illustrious career, it still felt so surreal at the time. As Ghost Cult scribe Hans Lopez penned so eloquently in his review of 2016’s Dissociation (Party Smasher Inc.) Dillinger was one of the most polarizing, but also most important bands of all time. Those final shows were performances for the ages. Thoughtfully planned, immaculately performed, with the highest levels of musicianship, a total disregard for the human condition, and most of all fun. Dillinger proved in the final throws of ecstasy and art that music can be dangerous, fun, and emotional all at once, without selling out or sacrificing anything.
