Vegas Rock Revolution‘s Planet Desert Rock Weekend has just revealed the full lineup for its fifth edition, taking place in Las Vegas, January 30th-February 2nd, 2025. 8 international bands, such as Mr. Bison, JIRM, and Sergeant Thunderhoof join the likes of Fireball Ministry, Unida, Mos Generator, Solace, Valley of the Sun and Paw frontman Mark Hennessey‘s Godzillionaire at the event. Monolith On The Mesa: Music And Art Festival returns to Taos, New Mexico September 16-17-18, 2022 with a killer lineup and experiences. Once again taking place at Taos Mesa Brewing The Mothership,  the first wave of bands for the fest includes Mars Red Sky, The Obsessed, Warhorse, The Otolith, Duel, Love Gang, Red Mesa and visual magicians: Mad Alchemy Liquid Light Show. This year the festival will be open-air and focused around the “earthship” amphitheatre which holds 1,500 people. Upcoming festival announcements will detail efforts to make the event more eco-friendly, with less single-use plastic and other disposables. With the second Crystal Spiders album, Morieris (Ripple Music), coming out just a year after Molt, it’s fair to say that it picks up where its predecessor left off. The guitar has a more noticeable presence courtesy of producer Mike Dean playing a more hands on role in the proceedings, but the songs remain primarily driven by Brenna Leath’s thumping bass and attitude-filled howls along with Tradd Yancey’s muscular drumming.

Gothic-tinged electronic band Death Valley High are releasing a new EP this week, Duel releases from MinusHEAD Records this Friday, August 23rd, 2019. The EP is have composed of inventive 1980s covers by inspired bands (think Faith No More, Eurythmics, Metallica, Bananarama) made in collaboration with music legends and underground tastemakers, while the other half is made of remixes of current DVH material. I had to take a moment when Desertfest New York was announced. I only had gotten to experience a real European Festival once in the last few years of my life and it was a game changer. Yet, I had yet to enjoy a Desertfest yet. The excitement I felt getting have this festival come practically to my backyard, and into two clubs I visit with regularity was just icing on the cake. If you love Stoner, Doom, and Psychedelic music, this festival is your true north and now we have a fest of our own like this in the USA. Continue reading
