ALBUM REVIEW: Geld – Currency – Castration


 

Despite listening to the genre for close to twenty-five years I am not well versed in the Australian Hardcore Punk scene; that changes now with Melbourne’s Geld and Currency // Castration (Relapse Records), the band’s third album. I have since learned that there is a thriving scene that includes the likes of Primitive Blast and Nerve Damage and clearly, I have a lot of catching up to do.

ALBUM REVIEW: Municipal Waste – Electrified Brain


The artwork that emblazons Municipal Waste’s Electrified Brain (Nuclear Blast) sets the scene as strongly as anything else could have: a Flying-V guitar violently piercing the left cheek of a skeletal head that’s also being shocked. ALBUM REVIEW: Cancer Bats – Psychic Jailbreak


This year will mark 18 years since the seminal Cancer Bats formed. After six albums, the band has cemented their heavy wild sound. Psychic Jailbreak (Bat Skull Records / New Damage Records) marks the first album since the departure of founding member, Scott Middleton, last year. The main question on every fans’ lips is whether this change in the lineup also marks the departure of their signature sound that has been developed over the years.

Bay Area Crossover Thrash and Skate Punk The Boneless Ones will release their first new album in 36 years on May 13th, 2022, Back To The Grind!” The Bay’s answer to Suicidal Tendencies and D.R.I. came back into existence last few years with Featuring founding members Max Fox (vocals) and Troy Takaki (bass) with drummer Chris Kontos (ex-Attitude Adjustment, ex-Machine Head) and new guitarist Craig Locicero (Dress the Dead, ex-Forbidden). The band recently played with fellow locals Exodus and Exhumed as the opening act on the Live and Outside event. The band rose to fame with their sole full-length in 1986, Skate For The Devil. Pre-orders for Back To The Grind are live with a single apparently coming soon!
