Coheed and Cambria Shares Holiday Themed Animated Video for “Toys”
Legendary Progressive Metallers Coheed and Cambria have teamed up with Funny or Die to debut their new music video for the track ‘Toys’. Directed by Alek Wasilewski and subtitled ‘The Unheavenly Christmas Carol,’ the concept for the clip was created by bandleader Claudio Sanchez. Directed by Alek Wasilewski, the song comes from Coheed’s recent album The Unheavenly Creatures. Funny or Die shared the video with the quote: “We’re in the middle of 45’s impeachment… that’s a lot to try and cope with during the holiday season, but Coheed and Cambria’s here to meld holiday bliss with democratic shit-shows.”
Sanchez remarked, “I’ve wanted to ‘toy’ with a Santa story for some time. I guess, no better time than the present. And for Jolly Ole’ to decide if he’s Naughty or Nice? The President.”
FESTIVAL REVIEW: Exit 111 Festival 2019 – Manchester, Tennessee
Exit 111 Festival, aptly named for the highway exit in Manchester TN, made its début October 11-13, 2019. Arriving in powers of three, it was three days of riffs, rock, and rowdiness. One part Metal, one part Rock, one Southern rock, and a whole lot of nostalgia, the event hosted three stages: the Rise Above Stage (honored suicide awareness and featured many of the Classic rock/Southern rock acts), Heaven Stage (the main stage and home to the headliners), and Hell Stage (spotlighted mainly heavy artists).Continue reading

Thank You Scientist – Terraformer
My issue with Thank You Scientist’s Terraformer (Evil Ink) is the same problem I have with Luca Guadagnino’s recent take on the Suspiria: don’t confuse self-indulgence with genius. I appreciate the balls it takes to drop an 84-minute opus and these New Jersey natives are fucking talented players, but do they really have nearly an hour and a half of captivating sounds? Unless your name is Bob Dylan or The Cure I’m not sure I need such a serving. Continue reading
