Roadburn Announces Tom G. Warrior’s Celtic Frost/Triptykon Requiem For 2019


In a stunning announcement former Roadburn artist and curator Thomas Gabriel Fischer, a.k.a. Tom G. Warrior will mark his return to Roadburn in 2019 with a full performance of Celtic Frost/Triptykon Requiem on Friday, April 12. The three-part Requiem comes complete with orchestral accompaniment via Dutch Metropole Orkest! More details below. The first part of the three-part Requiem appeared on Celtic Frost’s Into The Pandemonium and was titled Rex Irae. The third part, titled Winter was brought to life on the Celtic Frost album Monotheist in 2006, and until now, the missing second part has remained incomplete. Continue reading


Watch ISIS Perform For The First Time Since 2010 At Tribute To Caleb Scofield


Post-metal legends ISIS reunited last night under the guise of “Celestial” at the Caleb Scofield tribute Concert at The Wiltern in Los Angeles. last night. It was the first time since 2010 when the band broke up after touring behind their album Wavering Radiant. They played an incredible set featuring songs from Celestial, and Oceanic. Also appearing last night were Caleb’s bands Cave In, Old Man Gloom, as well as Pelican and 27. The event was streamed live. Watch below. Isis’ set starts at 2:55:28. Slipknot’s Jay Weinberg To Host Charity Concert For Best Buddies Foundation


 

Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg will host a one-night-only all-star concert for charity on October 16 at Basement East in Nashville, TN. The concert will be all covers and feature a multitude of stars from the Rock and Metal world, including Troy Sanders of Mastodon, Ben Weinman of The Dillinger Escape Plan/Suicidal Tendencies, Jack Gibson of Exodus, Steven Brodsky of Mutoid Man and Cave In, Jay’s father Max Weinberg of Bruce Springsteen and many more! 100% of the proceeds from the event will benefit “Buddies on the Beat,” Weinberg’s charity through Best Buddies Tennessee – a nonprofit that creates one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.Continue reading

Roadburn Festival 2019 has expanded with more bands and named their Artist In Residence. Cave In, Old Man Gloom, Thou (artist in residence), Daughters, Henrik Palm (as part of Tomas Linberg’s special curation of the fest), Drab Majesty, Ulcerate, Imperial Triumphant (full Vile Majesty live performance), Gold, Wolvenst with special guests, Messa, and Mord’a’stigmata. A Second Benefit For Caleb Scofield Booked For Los Angeles Next Fall


Tonight in Boston a sold-out benefit show for late Cave-In, Old Man Gloom, Zoroaster basisist Caleb Scofield takes place featuring Cave In, Converge, Old Man Gloom and others. Now a second event is planned at The wiltern in Los Angeles, this October 13th. The LA benefit show again features performances by Scofield’s bands: Cave In and Old Man Gloom as well as longtime friends and collaborators, Pelican and 27 (featuring Cave In’s Adam McGrath). The tribute also includes a one-time performance by the members of ISIS, who will play under the Celestial moniker, a nod to the influential outfit’s debut album of the same name. This is the band’s first performance since they played their final show in June of 2010. These shows support Caleb’s family, and numerous benefits, fund raisers and tributes have been organized since his sudden, tragic passing the march.

Nequient – Wolves at the Door


A sea change seems to be afoot in the heavy music game. Young bands like Code Orange, Knocked Loose and now Nequient’s approach to the genre is to craft albums that pull from as wide a net of influences as possible and spinning that yarn into functional songs. On Wolves at the Door (Nefarious Industries) Nequient uses d-beat-laden Crust Punk as a framework, and stacks on Thrash, Grindcore, Hardcore, Sludge and Black Metal to create a collage of brutality. Watch Members Of Cave In Pay Tribute To Caleb Scofield Live


At this past weekend’s Roadburn Festival Cave In‘s Stephen Brodsky and Adam McGrath reunited to pay tribute to their late bassist and vocalist Caleb Scofield who died in a car accident in March. The two played stripped-down versions of classic Cave In songs and covers Caleb liked at the Het Patronet venue, which frontman Brodsky told some stories about each song relating to Caleb.
