INTERVIEW: Thefalls – On Their Favorite Gear, Sources of Inspiration, and Their New Album “Reflections – Void”

The Drammen-born four-piece thefalls crafts their meticulous approach to metal in the most experimental way possible by blending in hardcore, post-metal, and sludge elements altogether. Hailing from the same town as Kambodsja, which I interviewed earlier, they are one of the rising forces that helped build the foundation of the underground scene in the said Norwegian small town.

TW for Rape, and Sexual Assault Content

As reported by Lambgoat.com, through a statement from his lawyer, Guitarist Dustie Waring (Between The Buried And Me, Glass Casket) has responded to allegations of sexual misconduct made against him, that have forced him to step back from music for now. In the statement, Waring denies any wrongdoing and claims the accusations are false and malicious, and that the relations were “consensual” in nature. The statement includes details of a seven-month exchange of messages between Waring and the accuser that contradict her story, as well as evidence that the encounter was consensual. Waring has since been forced to take a leave of absence from music, and could take legal action if the accuser continues to make false and defamatory claims.

Progressive Metallers Between The Buried and Me have entered the recording studio to begin work on a new album, due out in 2021. ALBUM REVIEW: Between the Buried and Me – Between the Buried and Me- Remixed and Remastered

The first time I saw Between the Buried and Me live was at The Gramercy Theatre in New York City, during a tour for their then-newly released Colors (Victory Records) album; it was a pivotal period for the group who had, at that time, seen a series of lineup changes in short order. Five drummers, four guitarists, and three bassists later, the band was shaping their sound to dull the edges from the ever-aggressive Silent Circus (Victory Records) and Alaska (Victory Records) albums to an arguably more technically complex, albeit at times mellower, Jazzy era that would set the tone for the rest of their musical trajectory as we know it today.
