Although a few bands have been last minute cancellations due to Hurrican Florence and Ghost Bath canceled their entire tour due to van troubles, the festival is 100%taking place with only rain expected at Camp Hidden Valley, in Whitehall Maryland. The lineup includes Abigail Williams, Xasthur, Aether Realm, Rozamov, Heavy Temple, A Sound of Thunder, Barishi, Destroyer of Light, Husbandry, God Root, Hepatagua, Cloak, Wolvhammer, Imperial Triumphant, Black Mass, and many more. Maryland Deathfest has added a plethora of new bands to the 2019 festival. Borknagar, Unleashed, and Benediction will all play Exclusive USA shows at the fest and joining them are Voivod, Anaal Nathrakh, Churchburn, Revenge, Primitive Man, Spectral Voice, Neckbeard Deathcamp and many more. After what seemed like a summer of endless waiting, the 70,000 Tons Of Metal (70K of Metal) has finally named their first band for the 2019 cruise. Accept, Eluveitie, and Subway To Sally is the first band setting sail on the next cruise. Sleep, Birds In A Row, Midnight Booked For Roadburn 2019
Roadburn Festival, already the worlds’ foremost underground music festival has named Sleep as the headliner for the 2019 edition of the festival. The band will celebrate with two epic headline sets, performing their classic Holy Mountain one night and their latest release The Sciences (Third Man) the next. Tomas Lindberg of At The Gates (Disfear, The Great Deceiver, ex-Lockup) is the curator of Roadburn 2019, and names such as Gore, Have A Nice Life, Heilung, Louise Lemón, Midnight, Seven That Spells, Vile Creature, have been announced. Victoria Hungerford Talks Booking Bloodstock Open Air And More
The biggest underground metal festival in the world, Bloodstock Open Air kicks off today. Headlined by titans of metal like Judas Priest, Nightwish, and Gojira, the festival has grown over the years from a small cottage enterprise to a huge undertaking. One of the lynchpins of the operation is Vicky Hungerford, as one of the four directors of the festival. She is directly responsible for booking the bands on the fest and attracting world-class talent every year. Thus, she helps to shape rock and metal history in the process year in and year out. We chatted with Vicky by phone a few days ago to get her take on BOA 2018, the challenges of planning such a big festival, and much more.
