ALBUM REVIEW: Hexenbrett – Dritte Beschwörung: Dem Teufel eine Tochter

Today on the block we have Hexenbrett. If you are a fan of guitar-driven Black Metal, look no further than this new offering. On their sophomore effort, we are treated to some super hooky riffage, mixed with enough ambiance and atmosphere to keep everything nice and evil. Continue reading

ALBUM REVIEW: Vosforis – Cosmic Cenotaph

Hello friends, hope all is well, let’s dive right in.

This week on the block we have, hailing from the U.K., Voforis with their debut cut Cosmic Cenotaph (Inner Hell Records). Studying up on this one, the project is led by Simon White, and I learned he is joined by former Cradle of Filth members such as guitarist Richard Shaw, vocalist/keys player Anabelle Iratni, drummer Adrian Erlandsson (also of At The Gates and The Haunted) on one track, and famed Cradle producer Russ Russell, so I went in with some preconceptions as to what I was in store for. Continue reading

ALBUM REVIEW: Bedsore – Dreaming The Strife For Love

Hello friends, quick question, what do you get when you mix prog rock with metal? Well short answer, you get the Italian based band Bedsore. This statement, although true falls very short though, of defining what this band is presenting on their new cut Dreaming The Strife For Love (20 Buck Spin.)Continue reading

ALBUM REVIEW: Spheric Universe Experience – Back Home

The new album from melodic progressive heavy metal act Spheric Universe Experience (never have I heard a more perfect name for a band!) Back Home (UPRISING!) is a true musical journey. This new cut, the band’s fifth overall and first for a decade, plays through like a movie soundtrack for some epic sci-fi adventure, which is apt considering this is a concept album set in space.

ALBUM REVIEW: Tzompantli – Tlazcaltiliztil

I love it when something new and different comes down the pipeline. Tlazcaltiliztil (20 Buck Spin), the new offering from Tzompantli brings much to the proverbial table. To start off I really dig the tribal vibe. Their approach blends some killer death metal and doom with awesome ambiance and tasty instrumentation. Continue reading

ALBUM REVIEW: Spill Your Guts – The Wrath It Takes

The new offering from Spill Your Guts, The Wrath It Takes (Trepanation Records) is quite the ass-kicker. I like their hardcore, in-your-face approach, blending many different genres and the band has a steel grip on their style. Yet, you get this crazy feel that the train could come off the tracks at any moment. Their no let-up vibe drives the groove and keeps this pissed off attitude going through out.

ALBUM REVIEW: Audrey Horne – Devil’s Bell

In the new “post-covid” era I have been hearing some awesome cuts coming from all kinds of artists. It makes me wonder how many took advantage of the downtime to hone skills and really dig into some songwriting.

ALBUM REVIEW: A Deer A Horse – Grind

From the very first second of the new cut from A Deer A Horse, I was instantly transported. I was instantly back in high school riding a skateboard and skipping school to check out records with my bros. The tracks presented here are so reminiscent of the good old days of grunge and punk. The angst-driven lyrics; the minimalistic approach. I really got into the tones of the guitar. They are very cool and melodic which gives them their own awesome presence.
