ADULT. has become a staple of dark electronic music, moving dance floors for 25 years. Kissing Luck Goodbye (Dais Records) continues their sonic legacy, even if it takes it in an unexpected direction. The project’s sound fall closet to industrial than darkwave in terms of aggression, though Nicola Kuperus‘ vocals are certainly influenced by it. Their industrial slant should not be surprising, considering one of their frequent collaborators was Douglas McCarthy of Nitzer Ebb (RIP). The stomping anger of the track would be post-punk if this were being made by guitars. Leaning heavier into the electronics for ” R U 4 SALE”, where they take complete control of the dance floor with buzzing synths grooving chaotically, even the lyrics admit that “the chaos is what they want”. On Friday February 2nd the Rock ’n’ Roll world was saddened the passing of “Brother” Wayne Kramer, founding member and guitarist of the legendary, influential Detroit band the MC5. Issued on Black Friday, 2023 via Saustex Records Call Me Animal: A Tribute to the MC5 was never intended as a send-off for Brother Wayne, but his untimely passing makes its recent release feel even more serendipitous. Conceived by Joey “Joecephus” Killingsworth, the album was several years in the making with his band/collective Joecephus and the George Jonestown Massacre and his production partner Dik LeDoux. Kramer himself participated in the project, laying down a smoking version of “Human Being Lawnmower” with Jello Biafra.

Chicago alt-electronic hard rock outfit Pound Of Flesh will be releasing their new album Pills via WuLi Records. Listen to their new music here.
Recorded at Paragon and Drakeraven studios, the album was produced by POF vocalist and lead programmer Darrell James (formerly of Ministry and Revolting Cocks) and keyboardist Steven McIntosh, and was mastered by Doug McBride at Gravity Studios in Chicago.
James played keyboards in Ministry during their 2003 “Fornicatour” and 2004 “Evil Doer” tours, as well as on Ministry’s Rantology and Rio Grande Blood, and Revolting Cocks’ Cocked and Loaded.
