Philadelphia experimental post-hardcore band, Kaonashi, has just announced The Lemon House Field Trip tour across the US this Fall. Kicking off on Sunday, October 27 at Winchester in Cleveland, OH, the run will culminate in an appearance at Canal Club in Richmond, VA on Saturday, November 23. The headline run will follow select performances in the U.S. and Canada supporting Protest The Hero from October 11th. Find live listings and more below.

Canadian extreme music festival Loud As Hell announces it will be accepting band submissions for their 2024 lineup being held from August 2nd to 4th at the Dinosaur Downs Stampede Grounds in Drumheller, AB. Canadian Power Metal champs Unleash The Archers took home the JUNO Awards (the Canadian Grammys) statue for “Metal/Hard Music Album Of The Year” for their 2020 album Abyss, released via Napalm Records. They beat out a tremendous field of competition including albums from Annihilator – Ballistic, Sadistic (Silver Lining/Warner), Kataklysm – Unconquered (Nuclear Blast/AEC/Believe), Protest The Hero – Palimpsest (Independent), and Vile Creature – Glory, Glory! Apathy Took Helm! (Prosthetic/The Orchard). All the nominees were deserving and congrats to UTA and the entire team at Napalm Records, as well as their publicity teams worldwide!

Annihilator, Ktaklysym, Vile Creature, Unleash The Archers, and Protest The Hero have been nominated in the best metal album of the Year category for the 2021 Juno Awards. The Juno Awards are the annual award show celebrating excellence across all musical genres and often called The Canadian Grammy Awards.” Last year’s winner for The Metal AOTY was Striker for their album Play To Win (Record Breaking Records/Independent). In the Rock AOTY category Neil Young & Crazy Horse, Silverstein, JJ Wilde, Crown Lands, and Sam Roberts are fighting it out in that category. The 50th Annual Junos will take place on May 16th, 2021.

It appears that Protest the Hero have got some thoughts on today’s, let us say shit, political climate. When your opening track is called ‘The Migrant Mother’ it’s a bit of a tell that Palimpsest (Spinefarm Records) has some issues it wants to address. I mean, regardless of subject matter I’d still be all for Palimpsest. Come on, it’s Protest the Hero, I could listen to songs about cooking bacon as long as it’s a new album.
COVID-19 Crowdfunding Campaign Launched to Support The Worcester Palladium and The Webster Theater
An Indiegogo campaign has been launched to support the employees of both The Worcester Palladium and Webster theatre, two venues in New England that have been hosts to thousands of metal, hardcore, and rock shows and countless other events for decades. Both venues are operated by Mass Concerts, and the fundraiser is to bring relief aid to their workers due to the cancellation from the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Protest The Hero Drops New Single – “The Canary”, New Album “Palimpsest” Coming Soon
Progressive metal act Protest The Hero has announced their new album Palimpsest, coming June 19th, via Spinefarm Records. They dropped a new single, ‘The Canary’, inspired by Amelia Earhart and her bright yellow bi-plane, is inspired by the American aviation pioneer, who was the first female flyer to cross the Atlantic solo. The entire album is a concept album focusing on Earheart, who mysteriously disappeared on her last flight, and her plane or body was never recovered and haunted the world.
