ALBUM REVIEW: Sevendust – Truth Killer

Closing in on 30 years into their career, you couldn’t blame Sevendust if they took their foot off the gas at this stage. They have indicated as much that they are looking to tour less intensely as they have been, as the bands have families and are thinking of their futures. The band has slogged it out for decades on countless tours, metal festivals worldwide, and at times, more intimate unplugged gigs as well. While there are surely not a lot of new mountains to climb, it’s refreshing to see that the band is still hungry, and challenging themselves to create quality new songs on their 14th album Truth Killer. Following a successful run at Rise Records, the band has found a new home in Napalm Records, home to many of their peers and touring partners. The vibe at Napalm fits better than Rise did, as they head into this next phase of their career.

ALBUM REVIEW: Mutoid Man – Mutants

Mutants (Sargent House) is album number three from Stephen Brodsky’s heavy, quirky and often colourful side-project Mutoid Man. And much like his work in Cave In, the music Brodsky creates with Mutoid Man encompasses a whole host of influences, to create a myriad of sounds.

ALBUM REVIEW: The Raven Age – Blood Omen

The Raven Age’s Blood Omen (Music For Nations) is a scorcher of an album. It’s an album that was played on repeat prior to any writing of reviewing. It was super easy to get into this album as it sounds like music I’ve heard before and enjoyed thoroughly. The beginning song ‘Changing of the Guard’ throws you off as its operatic, European, and very folklore driven in tone. It’s a beautiful introduction but is not in the same genre as the rest of the album.

INTERVIEW: Matty Joseph and Graham Stanush of Return to Dust on “Black Road” and Sharing The Spotlight

We chatted with Matty and Graham of Return To Dust about their new single and music video “Black Road!” The modern post-Grunge band is killing it early in their career with this amazing track, a production deal with legend Jim Kaufman (Anti-Flag, Danny Worsnop, Night Riots, Helmet), and an artistic vision is seldom seen. We discussed their humble beggings, moving out to LA to start their career, the influences of Alice In Chains,  Stone Temple Pilots,  Soundgarden, and others, and a lot more!  Their new EP is releasing July, 28th, 2023

ALBUM REVIEW: Jag Panzer – The Hallowed

Jag Panzer is a veteran (US style) Power Metal act from the icy and rocky mountains of Colorado who have been around through various lineups for a little over forty years. While I may not have been personally familiar with the group prior to this review, I was able to quickly feel how the band has been able to stay together for such a long time.

ALBUM REVIEW: Ayron Jones – Chronicles Of The Kid

Ayron Jones delivers blockbusting, heartbreaking, beautiful, and bluesy rock ‘n’ roll on Chronicles Of The Kid (Big Machine/John Varvatos Records). “I came for the title,” he sings. “I got a word to my rivals.” The verdict? If it’s a matter of survival, this kid’s still standing.
