Laura Jane Grace Announces Spring 2023 Tour Dates

Author, activist, and musician Laura Jane Grace (Against Me!) has booked her upcoming U.S. tour dates for April/May 2023. Combining solo headline shows with performances supporting Frank Turner and The Interrupters on their upcoming North American co-headline tour, Grace’s run will begin on April 5 in Columbia, MO and visit markets such as Atlanta, GA on April 11, Orlando, FL on April 15, Charlotte, NC on April 22, Nashville, TN on April 28, Chicago, IL on April 30, New York, NY on May 12, and culminate in an appearance at The Stone Pony Summer Stage in Asbury Park, NJ on May 13. Tickets for the Frank Turner and The Interrupters dates are on sale now, and tickets for all of Grace’s headline shows will go on sale this Friday, February 10 at 10 a.m. local time. Weakened Friends will provide support on all of Grace’s headline dates, and a full listing of shows can be found below.

Jamie Lenman has been an ongoing stalwart of the alternative rock UK scene since his early days in Reuben. Now with four albums under his belt as a solo act, Lenman has completely reinvented himself and sound to become one of the more eclectic acts England has to offer. After a cover album and a song featuring MC Illaman from Pengshui, where next, could Lenman possibly go? Well, it seems the solo artist has decided to completely disembark his traditional heavier punk rock sound to embrace more indie pop rock avenues with The Atheist (Big Scary Monsters).

Entering Academy 1 just after doors and those of us early attendees were in for a surprise treat, added a few days ago on the tour was an extra support act in the form of Mash P. Introduced by Frank Turner himself who told the story of how he first met Mash in 2017 in Freetown, Sierra Leone where he was living on the street, and visiting the way out arts charity to find his art and his voice.

There are a lot of great storytellers in the world. For over fifteen years as a solo artist, Hardcore kid and childhood Heavy Metal devotee Frank Turner has mined the considerable depths of his life experience to bring his raw delivery, and his unique take on the human condition. His transparent honesty as a person and artist has earned him a lot of love from fans, and respect in general from his peers. At the end of the day, he’s just a regular guy, sharing his story. Much like the rest of us, but sorting it out one verse, one song, one album at a time.

CONCERT REVIEW: Frank Turner – Live at Fete Music Hall

A Frank Turner concert is as much a spiritual experience, like an old southern revival church meeting, as much as it is a rock concert. He has been at this for a long time, over twenty years in music. Stripped-down from his usual full band experience, Frank has spent years honing his Punk – Folk stylings as a solo artist or with a small group. He doesn’t need a full band to deliver an impactful riff, lyric, or song. So after a year of bedroom livestreams, Frank finally started small with a handful of shows and made it over to the USA for a tour including Punk Rock Bowling. For nights like tonight, just a few guitars and Frank’s one of a kind voice and narrative storytelling ability captivates the crowd. It’s hard to break the spell if you see him in person.
