While it seems strange to refer to a sound that has been around for over two decades as “modern”, it feels completely accurate to describe the sonic barrage of Aeon as Modern Death Metal. Renowned for keeping the intensity levels up – backed by a production to level small towns with its ripped, lean torso – for their fifth release Swedish violence-dealers have shown no relenting despite lockdown, No extra inches have been added to their waist-bands, and no sign of flabbiness added to their carb-free sensory assault.

GoFundMe Campaign Launched For Begat The Nephilim After Van Fire
Extreme Metal band Begat The Nephilim has suffered a bad loss as their van caught on fire and was destroyed. Although no one was harmed, their drummer Josh was living out of the van and lost many personal items. This terrible news comes on the heels of the band landing the coveted spot opening for the much-anticipated tour from Death Metal legends Deicide, Kataklysm, and Internal Bleeding. Begat is one of the better bands in the New England scene and even better people too. A friend has launched a GoFundMe to help them recover from this loss, so please donate if you can.
ALBUM REVIEW: Incantation – Sect of Vile Divinities
Incantation is one of those bands that every metalhead knows about. Hailing from the East Coast, these guys have been around for over thirty years and have always made their presence known in the scene. From consistent album releases to endless touring, Incantation is an act that has dedicated everything to their craft. These veteran players continue to carry the banner for old school American Death Metal on their eleventh full-length, Sect of Vile Divinities (Relapse Records). Anoxide takes to the stage and the room starts to fill. Occasional blastbeats growls, and riffs a-plenty, this local Death metal act make a good impression on the people around me as much as myself, with the headbanging the best indication that, despite the early start, they are certainly worth their spot on the bill. Legions of fans gathered under the scorching sun to witness a concert only fit for the gates of hell. On June 1st, the Overtures of Blasphemy tour made its stop in New York City as fans descended to a sold out Gramercy Theatre to witness the brutality of Death Metal legends, Deicide. Supporting the bill were the Disciples of Destruction – Origin, Jungle Rot, and The Absence. They gave a performance that was both unforgiving and unforgettable.
