ALBUM REVIEW: Def Leppard – Diamond Star Halos


Seven years after their previous, eponymously titled, album Def Leppard are back with Diamond Star Halos (UMG). It is a long gap between records and right from the off their trademark arena-ready hard rock is in full swing in ‘Take What You Want’ – with it’s crunching chords and touches of On Through The Night. The first three tracks conform to their trademark sound, with the seventies-inspired, glam stomper ‘Kick’ one of the highlights – they have compensated for the familiarity by stuffing it full of hooks. ‘Fire It Up’ is a hard rocker with a slinky little riff and daft and hackneyed lyrics designed purely for a singalong.

Def Leppard Releases New Single – “Take What You Want”


Def Leppard has shared the second single from their upcoming new album “Take What You Want”. The track comes from Diamond Star Halos (UMC) releasing on the 27th of May 2022. The album features a very special guest appearance on two tracks from multi-Grammy winner and acclaimed songwriter, Alison Krauss. The album opener, the new single is classic Def Leppard to the core. A lyric video for the single will be released on the 29th of April 2022. All of this arrives ahead of Def Leppard’s massive 36 City North American -”The Stadium” Tour with Mötley Crüe, Poison, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and more! Kicking off on 16th June in Atlanta.

Def Leppard’s Classic Song “Rock Of Ages” Heard in the Cobra Kai Season 4 Trailer 


Netflix just dropped the trailer to Season 4 of their hit series Cobra Kai, the sequel to the The Karate Kid movies from 1980s! The show has always celebrated the decade it came from , especially the music. The trailer for season 4 features the iconic 1980s hit song “Rock of Ages” by Def Leppard. Cobra Kai, takes place over 30 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament with the continuation of the inescapable conflict between Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka). Season 4 finds the Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang dojos joining forces to take down Cobra Kai at the All Valley Under 18 Karate Tournament… and whoever loses must hang up their gi. The series also stars Martin Kove and Thomas Ian Griffith from the movies.

Composer and Producer Jim Steinman Has Died, Age 73 


According to a report from TMZ, Classic Rock and Pop Composer and Producing legend Jim Steinman have died. He was 73. Jim had been transported to a Connecticut hospital for an undisclosed medical event and pronounced dead there. The cause of death is as of yet, unraveled. Steinman was world-0reknowned for his collaborations with Meat Loaf on his album Bat Out of Hell and its two chart-topping sequels. He also produced smash hit albums for Bonnie Tyler, Def Leppard, Billy Squire, Sisters of Mercy, Barry Manilow, Air Supply, Celine Dion, Cher, and many others. There was a recent campaign to have Jim and Meat Loaf inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame via Change.org. The music world is reacting on social media to this news and we’ll bring you more details as we learn them. We send our condolences out to Jim’s family, friends, and fans at this time.
