Mick Mars Sues Mötley Crüe For Kicking Him Out of The Band, Lost Wages, and Alleges The Entire Band Plays to Recorded Tracks on “The Stadium Tour”

After leaving Mötley Crüe several months ago on a wave of positivity, and being replaced by John 5, former guitarist Mick Mars is suing his former band. The amicable retirement was actually a ruse, and he was apparently fired from the band. Mick has levied several serious charges against the band. According to a legal filing obtained by TMZ Mick claims  his tour profits were slashed tremendously, that he wanted to perform live versus his band playing mostly to pre-recorded backing tapes, including Nikki Sixx pre-recorded bass tracks for all of the dates for “The Stadium Tour.” We know for a fact that Vince Neil and Tommy Lee have used tracks, but Mars prides himself on his playing, in spite of his battle with the debilitating illness, ankylosing spondylitis. He also claims Nikki “gaslighted him” by saying his playing skills have lessened over time. Mick is preparing his debut solo album, while his former band is on a world tour for 2023-24 with Def Leppard.

Joey Kramer is Suing Aerosmith Over His Status in The Band

According to a published report by TMZ, Rock legend and Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer has filed a lawsuit against his bandmates, claiming that they are not allowing him to return to the group after a temporary disability. Kramer says he suffered minor injuries in the spring of 2019 but was ready to return for the fall leg of the band’s Las Vegas residency shows. But instead of being welcomed back as expected, Kramer claims he was subjected to a brand new band policy he did not approve of, where he would have to audition to prove he was “able to play at an appropriate level” in order to regain his drummer role. According to Kramer, the band asked him to perform a series of solo rehearsals against a “click track” as his audition, after which they would listen to the recordings to decide whether he would be allowed to come back to the group. In the meantime, Kramer has covered the cost of a replacement drummer at a rate of $20,000 a week for performances and $10,000 a week for rehearsals.Continue reading

Eddie Han Halen Cancer Rumors Persist

Normally we don’t do the rumor mill here at Ghost Cult HQ, as some of our brethren at other metal sites do. When it is a monumentally important artist, we listen to new information and try to be respectful. One story we have been tracking is the end of the Van Halen reunion with David Lee Roth, which we broke the news last week of Roth saying definitively the band is done with him. In that same interview Roth gave, he alluded to health issues from Eddie Van Halen being the culprit and even said that Eddie needs to address the public. Now TMZ has reported that Eddie has had a relapse of his throat and tongue cancer that he has battled for the last 20 years. According to a published report, Eddie has been traveling to Germany for routine treatments. In a recent article, Eddie alluded to the fact that he believes he got his initial tongue cancer from holding metal guitar picks in his mouth during his solos like ‘Eruption’, and not from Smoking. One wide-spread report last winter had the band booking a summer tour of baseball stadiums with Foo Fighters, Metallica and others, but that it fell apart over the involvement of bringing founding VH bassist Michael Anthony back in on a part-time basis. We wish Eddie the best and we will keep following this news. Continue reading
