Look, this is a genuine effort to fend off waves of tweets and horseshit comments like “well, everybody in metal borrows from somebody” or “not everybody is reinventing the wheel.” As someone who’s only been listening to extreme music for the last twenty-five years, I think I get it. Metallica? More like we love Diamond Head. Slayer? Oh, you mean Venom if they actually knew how to play their instruments? Sepultura? Slayer if they were even better at their craft?

Jamey Jasta’s Milwaukee Metal Fest Adds Machine Head, Deeds of Flesh, Angelus Apatrida, Midnight, Warbringer, Bodysnatcher, Vended, Malignancy, Morta Skuld, Ripper Owens, and Pissing Razors


 

Milwaukee Metal Fest 2023 has added a slew of new bands including Milwaukee Metal Fest Books Machine Head, Deeds of Flesh, Angelus Apatrida, Midnight, Warbringer, Bodysnatcher, Vended, Malignancy, Morta Skuld, Ripper Owens,  Pissing Razors, and many more. Machine Head is a particular coup for the fest since they rarely do festivals, and none in the USA for many, many years. Hatebreed frontman and podcaster Jamey Jasta purchased the rights to the fest name in 2022, the rebooted event will take place on Memorial Day Weekend at The Rave/Eagles club. The Black Dahlia Murder Announces “The Verminous Remnant Tour” with Terror, Frozen Soul, Fuming Mouth, and Phobophilic


 

The Black Dahlia Murder will return to the stage this Spring on “The Verminous Remnant Tour.” The band’s first trek following the tragic death of frontman Trevor Strnad will mark the close of the Verminous touring cycle and introduce a reformed lineup consisting of remaining and returning members of the band. The journey will commence on April 14th with an appearance at the Decibel Metal & Beer Fest in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and run through May 26th in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Support will be provided by Terror, Frozen Soul, Fuming Mouth, and Phobophilic. Tickets go on sale this Friday, January 20th at 10:00 am local time. See all confirmed dates below.

The Black Dahlia Murder performed their first show since the passing of Trevor Scott Strnad on May 11th, 2022. The show was a hometown celebration of life for Trevor and tribute to his memory, at Saint Andrews Hall in Detroit. The concert marked the debut of founding member Brian Eschbach as vocalist and the return of guitarist Ryan Knight. Support for the show came from Darkest Hour and Plague Years. Decibel Magazine Metal & Beer Fest: Philly has announced its flagship event for 2023, taking place once again at The Fillmore in Philadelphia. Taking place April 14-15, 2023, co-headlining the festival are Suicidal Tendencies (performing a special 40th anniversary set of the S/T album + hits) and the return of The Black Dahlia Murder. CONCERT REVIEW: In Flames – Fit For An Autopsy – Orbit Culture – Vended Live at The Crofoot


A hint of that classic autumn smell floated in on a slight breeze last Monday evening as Michigan metalheads gathered in Pontiac to catch the Melodic Death Metal veterans, In Flames. The Crofoot is an entertainment complex located in Detroit’s most northern suburb and is considered a local treasure. Home to three acclaimed music venues, the historic building was an ideal spot to host Gothenburg’s finest and their openers. In Flames has recently re-signed with Nuclear Blast and is getting ready to release their fourteenth full-length album, Foregone (Nuclear Blast) in 2023. To celebrate their new chapter, these Swedish guys brought on their tour the blossoming bands Vended, Orbit Culture, and Fit For An Autopsy. Their excellent choices in support set them up for memorable evenings full of metal mayhem.
