Guitarist Shaun Glass of Repentance (ex-Soil, ex-Broken Hope), Has Died


Sad news to report: Shaun Glass, a founding member of Soil, and other notable metal bands Repentance, Broken Hope, and Dirge Within, has died. Although details are scarce, several members of the metal community have shared an outpouring of love for Shaun and alluded to a stroke he had suffered in recent days. Nonpoint’s Robb Rivera posted a long tribute confirming Shaun’s loss, which you can read below. A mainstay of the nineties Chicago heavy music scene, Soil was formed by Glass, after a stint in OSDM leaders Broken Hope, teamed up with members of Opressor. Glass rode with the band for over a decade, as their major label debut and second album Scars (J Records) had the international hit “Halo,” along with their follow up albuns Redefine, and True Self.  Glass and the band tour with Ozzfest, Mayhem Festival, as well as international tours and festivals. RIP. Glass’ most recent band, Repentance, has been on the rise of late, with their new album Retaliate releasing on July 17th, making his passing extra tragic. RIP. Continue reading
