Imagine someone stuffing your body into a laundry dryer and then turning on.
You’re trapped, surrounded by noise, your mind and body is spinning at the speed of light. A thrilling experience, however maybe your last surge of adrenaline ever. This was the experience I got from the debut Serpent of Gnosis album As I Drink From The Infinite Well Of Inebriation (1126 Records).

Archspire -Virvum – Inferi: Live at The Tiger Room
The Tiger Room rests on the Southside of Louisville, Kentucky. This part-time venue and the part-time strip club is a local favorite. Catering particularly well to the heavy, this venue was an ideal spot for the fourth annual Tech Trek tour. Last Tuesday, the Tech Metal masters, Archspire, along with some friends, came to the Derby City to destroy and conquer. Though the sun was still shining bright, a line of fans all dressed in black battled the heat to hold their spot in line. Shortly after the venue opened its doors, Kentuckian act, Effigy had the first swing on stage. Their local flare was a pleasant way to start the night off. Continue reading
Allegaeon – Apoptosis
Many years ago in his journey discovering what Heavy Metal meant to him, Trey Azagthoth of Morbid Angel once wisely stated that “Metal people want to get mowed down by viciously sick melodies slamming over an arrangement of beats that twists the body and pulls it in all directions; freak them up.” This brilliant quote still holds true today as it best describes what happens when you listen to the new Allegaeon album entitled Apoptosis (Metal Blade Records). This album is absolutely divine in every way. It takes you on a higher level of transcendence the further you listen to it. It is ART expressed in its purest form and you can easily find yourself getting lost in it. You don’t want it to end and it’s almost heartbreaking when you can to the realization that it will. This album was not only made for the Metalheads who can love and appreciate all forms of it, but for music enthusiast in general. It is the love child between the old and new generations of Metal.
