CONCERT REVIEW: Trivium – Between The Buried And Me – Whitechapel – Khemmis Live at Palladium Times Square


 

I was elated to hear the announcement of Trivium’s “Deadmen and Dragons” tour because it screamed nostalgia to me: three of four bands emerged in my personal golden era of musical discovery (early 2000s); add to that Khemmis, spirited doom-metallers who I’ve never seen live, I knew it would be spectacular. Continue reading


CONCERT REVIEW: Watain – ABBATH – Tribulation – Bölzer Live at Poppodium 013


 

Back in the saddle after a prolonged hiatus I got to cover some Black Metal for Ghost Cult Magazine in 013 Tilburg on the 29th of September 2022. It’s good to walk the halls of the familiar venue again after a few years of mostly quiet, and several months since Roadburn. Tonight we come for Watain’s new album tour, The Agony & Ecstasy of Watain. They are joined tonight by Bölzer, Tribulation and Abbath, an excellent package.

CONCERT REVIEW: At The Gates – Municipal Waste – Enforced Live at Irving Plaza


 

Recently renovated classic venue Irving Plaza in New York City is the scene for the finale of the US leg of At The Gates most popular album, Slaughter of the Soul. Enforced opened the night. They’re an interesting group to me. They sound like a mix of Death Metal/Thrash with a some hardcore-tinged vocals. Whatever they’re going for, it’s working for them. I dig it.

CONCERT REVIEW: Lamb Of God – Killswitch Engage – Baroness Live at the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion


 

As excited fans filed into The Freedom Mortgage Pavilion in Camden, New Jersey it was evident that we were all about to share an epic night of metal as Lamb Of God, Killswitch Engage and Baroness converged to share the stage. It was already a hot summer night in an outdoor arena and it was about to get even hotter.
