Operating as a division of publishing administrator Word Collections, the collective already boasts clients like Metallica, Baroness, Converge, The Offspring, and Yngwie Malmsteen. Allen Blickle, the Former Drummer of Baroness, Has Died
Former Baroness drummer Alan Blickle has died. Blickle was part of the band’s earliest lineup, once joined by his brother Brian, and was a member of the band through their tours from their debut releases to their acclaimed albums Red, Blue, and Yellow & Green (Relapse Records). He left the band in 2013, after the near-fatal bus crash the band suffered outside of Bath, UK in 2012. Bickle also performed with Romantic Dividends, A Place To Bury Strangers, and Alpaca. The news was originally shared by Laura Pleasants of Kylesa, with Baroness leader John Dyer Baizley also remembering his friend. Continue reading

CONCERT REVIEW: Baroness – Dawn of Ouroborus Live at The Meadows, Brooklyn
I love that every couple of years. Baroness does a small venue tour, it feels more connected to their base, and there is nothing better than seeing one of your favorite bands in an intimate room, singing along with a packed crowd. If you were a fan of early Baroness, this was your tour to see them play both Red and Blue Album (both released on Release Records) front to back. Many songs and interludes have never been performed live before.
CONCERT REVIEW: Ulcerate – Autarkh Live at Poppodium 013
Opening today are Tilburg locals Autarkh, whom I first discovered playing the 2021 Roadburn Redux show. Eclectic and heavy, the band mix electronics with metal elements, so much that Encyclopedia Metalum (a.k.a Metal Archives) doesn’t even consider them metal enough. Tonight, though, the band have a live drummer with them, who plays the angular beats with relish. Frontman and guitarist Michel Nienhuis (formerly Dodecahedron) is clearly very much in the groove. A groove expertly set by their temping bassist, who learned the complex material in only a week. It’s very hard to stick a genre on what Autarkh make, but I’d call them Avant-Garde Math Metal.Continue reading
ALBUM REVIEW: Calyces – Fleshy Waves of Probability
Hailing from Greece, the Athenian Progressive Rock band Calyces has crafted a thoroughly eccentric sophomore record titled Fleshy Waves of Probability (Self-Released). They are, without a doubt, masters of their instruments. Continue reading
Gina Gleason of Baroness Has Her Beloved Fender Guitar Stolen By Fans on Their European Tour
Baroness are concluding the final tour dates of a year of touring and stellar headline shows. Last night, in Nottingham, UK, at the end of the show, Gina Gleason (celebrating a birthday) passed her White and Tortoise Shell Fender guitar into the crowd for them to pass it around and someone ran off with it.
In a now-deleted post, have pleaded for the guitar’s safe return, no questions asked. Perhaps it has been returned but if you have a lead on the guitar, please contact Baroness. The band continues to tour behind Stone(Abraxan Hymns)Continue reading
