Steve Digiorgio (Testament, Death, Sadus) Played Bass on The New Megadeth Record


Steve Digiorgio (Testament, Sadus, Death) is the bass player on the new Megadeth album. Long suspected and unconfirmed until today, Dave Mustaine  credited Digiorgio for the  bass work new Megadeth album, The Sick, The Dying, And The Dead, due on July 8, 2022 in a new interview today. The album features a cover of Dead Kennedys’ “Police Truck” and Sammy Hagar’s “This Planet’s On Fire”, with vocals from Hagar. Mustaine shared this new  leader shared the news of DiGiorgio’s involvement, replacing the previously deleted bass tracks of former bassist David Ellefson in an interview with Jose Mangin of SiriusXM Liquid Metal, while discussing the upcoming leg 2 of the  “Metal Tour of The Year” with Lamb of God, Trivium, and In Flames  as well as the upcoming Megaddeth cover of “Take No Prisoners” Mustaine did with LoG, debuting on April 1st.

Testament Announces New Drummer- Dave Lombardo (Slayer, Suicidal Tendencies, Mr. Bungle, Dead Cross)


Testament announced on SiriusXM Liquid Metal with Jose “Metal Ambassador” Mangin, that the bands’ new drummer is none other than former Testament drummer Dave Lombardo (Slayer, Suicidal Tendencies, Mr. Bungle, Dead Cross). Lombardo, replaces Gene Hoglan, and was in the band from 1998-1999 for The Gathering record and subsequent tour. The band and Mangin commented about the return:

Bloodstock Open Air 2022 has added 12 more bands to the lineup for this summer, including Avatar, Thrown Into Exile, Pupil Slicer, Cage Fight, and Ill Nino, Vended, Sorcerer, Red Method, and Baest. More bands will be added soon and the festival has announced their ticket deposit plan.  Day tickets will go on sale in the ticket store on Friday 4th February at 9am, priced £65 (+bkg fees) for adults and £20 (+bkg fees) for children (4-11 years). Headliners for BOA 2022 are Lamb Of God,  Mercyful Fate and Behemoth. Bloodstock will take place at Catton Park, Derbyshire on 11th-14th August 2022.

Gene Hoglan Quits Testament


In a new post to his official Instagram account, world-renowned drummer Gene “The Atomic Clock” Hoglan has quit thrash Legends Testament after 10 years as a recording and touring member of the band. No word yet from the band as to who will replace Gene. Testament heads out on the rescheduled tour dates for “The Bay Strikes Back” tour with Exodus and Death Angel this spring. Gene’s last album with Testament was 2020’s Titans’s of Creation, (Nuclear Blast) and you can read our review here.

Having shown resounding and unequivocal support for every single band so far, the Bloodstock faithful are still raring to go after four full days of partying. As battle commences one final time, highlights on the Sophie Stage include the hard hitting Midlands retro-fuzz of Wolf Jaw, Brighton doomsters Grave Lines, the angry sounding double punch of Vexed and Pist, a debut performance from symphonic death metallers Ghosts of Atlantis, and Manchester black metal mob Necronautical.

FESTIVAL REVIEW: Bloodstock Open Air 2021 Part 2


 

FRIDAY

With energy levels and festival excitement still high, quality acts such as Welsh black metallers Agrona, Norfolk thrashers Shrapnel, Liverpool doom/sludge merchants Conan, and a reinvigorated and retooled Evile invade the Sophie Lancaster Stage, decimating all before them. Birmingham grindcore legends Napalm Death complete the day’s entertainment with a reliably devastating set, the crowd gathered outside the tent almost as huge as the one inside.
