EP REVIEW: Dead Heat – Endless Torment


 

“Drinking beer, smoking marijuana, listening to Judas Priest…” stems from a shoddy news report detailing the Judas Priest lawsuit trial from 1990. But for those in the know, the sample from the said report was the awesome opening touch that Nails went with on the Among the Arches of Intolerance/In Pain single from 2015. If you don’t own the Decibel Magazine flexi, do yourself a favor and give it a listen on your preferred streaming platform. The same beer-swilling, reefer madness slogan would make perfect sense paired with another Oxnard, California standout in Dead Heat

EP REVIEW: Fucked Up – Oberon


I believe in reading as a creative experience. The Reader comes to the work with their intellect, imagination, expectations, wants and needs, and sets out, consciously or not, to forge their very own “version” of the original text, however sacred. And that “version” will no doubt be different from yours, mine or anyone else’s. As with The Reader, or The Audience Of The Film, Play Or Live Performance, I believe The Listener Of The Album (Or EP) does the same. I also believe in the mighty Fucked Up.

ALBUM REVIEW: Necrot – Mortal – Tankcrimes


What’s the best strategy when it comes time to record a follow-up to a critically acclaimed album like 2017’s Blood Offerings? Well, for Necrot it seems as simple as following the course. Yes, that approach on paper does come across a little reductionist and it may imply that Mortal (Tankcrimes) is merely a rehash. But while Necrot may not be reimagining the genre on Mortal they are serving up some of the most satisfying Death Metal today.

Metal Vs Racism Releases Its Second Episode


After making its debut early this week with episode one, Metal Vs. Racism, an online collective of metal musicians has shared their second episode. This episode features Alex Skolnik of Testament, Joel Grind of Toxic Holocaust, Leon De Muerte of  Terrorizer, Mike IX of EyeHateGod, Chiyo of Noothgrush, Scotty Peterson of Cryptic Slaughter, Greg Wilkerson of Brainoil/Deathgrave, Rev. Ben Falgoust of Goatwhore and more! Episode 1 featured members of High On Fire, Sepultura, Gatecreeper, Exhumed, Necrot, Blood Incantation, and others.
